I believe (but have yet to prove it to myself) that other units just have to be in the same district.

For example, Unit 'A' could be right next to the Enemy being attacked, the Militia in your City x hexes away and Unit 'B at the far edge of your district all work together - assuming you leave the reinforcement tick box selected.

If you've noticed, some heroes have a special ability to create more reinforcements points based on army size, especially WW and AM heroes, where the skill states ''+2 reinforcements point based on army size''

Using common sense it would tell you that for every unit you have in your army there will be 2 reinforcements point(army size right?) but no(that will mean 8 reinforcement points), the ''army size'' means the number of upgrades u have on ur army size apparently. its based on the total number of units your army can hold, aka after u researched mertiocratic promotion AND added one point on your hero to that particularly skill, you will have +2 reinforcements points during a battle with your hero involved.

Note that this only works when the enemy or you engage each other using your hero's army, not another army. Extra reinforcements point wont be put down if your hero is not the starting unit. I have tested this out using AM, and i did have +2 reinforcements point when engaging with my hero, and +1 reinforcements point on really hilly terrain where there's not much to maneuver. I'm not so sure about WW heroes having it, but in a recent game the enemy player had 3 reinforcement points, and was not near a city, so i have some further questions to answer.

As for the reinforcement procedure itself, you can check and uncheck armies that u want to participate in the battle, though i havent been able to arrange them in the order I wanted them to come in(especially important since reinforcements have a turn during the first round, good to have some high initiative cavalry), nor was i able to entirely uncheck reinforcements as of this recent beta version.

What I mean is that when the first army is destroyed, the battle mode keeps going through the targeting sequence even though my second army doesnt deploy, the turns also keep rotating through the enemy units. I'm sure its just a minor bug, but really a big time waster when u have to click launch targeting sequence about 8 times haha

In one of his videos, Panczasu voiced the opinion that the armies who will join to reinforce a battle are those that are in their own faction's deployment zone on the strategic map when the battle is initiated. I haven't yet paid attention to that except for a few battles, but it at least seems to serve as a reasonable guideline what to expect.
