Name says it all, I am utterly incapable of construction settlers or in any way expanding my city. I am sure I am missing something, but what?

Well, in order to build settlers, the city needs to have at least 2 population smiley: stickouttongueopulation:. Broken Lords gain more population by buying them, so you click on Your city, and next to the timer that shows how many turns before your pop grows, there's a Dust icon smiley: dust that you click to buy your new pop.

If this isn't the problem, I'd suspect a bug.

Yeah, you probably never bought citizens. But on the other hand, you will find out that once you start buying citizens you will come across another bug that actually isn't. You will realize you will never be able to grow your cities because expanding as the broken lords breaks the lords.

Pop increase cost for the lords is based on a factor of global population and local population. Increasing population in more than like 2 cities essentially cripples your ability to increase population within all your cities..

BLes population price is much higher when you have more cities. It goes exponential. So you have to wait for others to settle and then come and conquer. It's really bad mechanic and should be changed, cause that makes impossible for BLs to do well. Cause EVERY other faction build city on food production, and make that city less optimal to BL. So you would like to raze that city and build a new one on better dust place. BUT you cannot cause that would cost you around infinite dust. And you don't have infinite dust, do you?

That makes BL most broken and WEAK faction of all. I hope they will get fixed. They are Sowers of Legend.

And just like early Sowers their custom faction builds are absolutely ridiculously amazing.

That said. The cost is exponential, but you hardly need infinite dust to do well. Pick a strong starting location even if it takes a few turns to find it. The pure dust economic base can let you churn out a LOT of stuff very quickly, and having one powerful city with 1-3 weaker satellite cities gives you perfectly acceptable zone control and dust production. It's just not as good as certain faction who have half again or double the trait points of Broken Lords default.

Play an optimized BL faction and you'll see how powerful they really are.
