It's mostly the same stuff as in the first Endless Space: kinetics, missiles, and lasers, oh my! The only difference is that you have all of them at the start and get better versions of the various weapon modules by researching them and using strategic resources like Titanium-70 and Hyperium to install them on upgraded ship designs. In my opinion, since lasers are either mid-to-long-range blasters or short-range beams in Endless Space 2, those would be the armaments onboard. It would make more sense to have them on a deep-space exploration vessel as opposed to kinetics or missiles, if only because you don't have to lug physical ammo around.


Still, there's a lot that needs to be considered, especially if the Saviour is a unique ship. I guess the most telling detail of what the Saviour is capable of, though, would be what 'Era' the Pilgrims are in during the RP; Endless Space 2 research is organized by 5 'Eras', with simpler research in the first and 'godly' research in the fifth. Basically, if this was actually a game of Endless Space 2, what turn would it be?

Alright so all of us are going to meet each other on the bridge soon. If you want, I could create the interior of the bridge but I would ask for AngelicStorm or Alien@System to make it up because I doubt my abilities given how important it is to design the bridge (Since it is not likely to change for a while and people will be using it a lot) and both of them seem to be the two most proficient writer (In my own opinion) in the role play. However, we can also all co-operate and design the bridge but that could possibly delay the role-play. 


By the way, @Darkon, could you keep going on?

As for the armaments of the Saviour, that does need some clarifying. 

Out of interest, would it be possible for the ship to 'upgrade' as the story progresses? I'm not saying it would happen regularly, but it offers a prompt for further writing and a possible change of scene. 


Say the need becomes apparent for a stronger shield or a mining laser to be installed for instance. Couldn't the crew stop off at a port (or some other location), purchase (or scavenge, as the case may be) the relevant tech and then install it later on? That's a very rough outline, but it doesn't sound unreasonable to me. Not that I'm saying it should happen, just that it might later add some flavour to the story.

I believe there was a post saying that it is possible to improve equipment. So I guess, yes.

It's just me, but I imagine the bridge looks something like the Enterprise's from the recent Star Trek movies; a big, round room with wall consoles, free-standing consoles in front of and flanking of the captain's chair for his officers, a window looking out the front of the ship, a low, domed ceiling, two doors in the back of the bridge to enter and leave from, etc. The only difference would be a lot more white and blue than on the Enterprise, especially for the floors, seats, and desks.

It's not just you. Although I guess I'm imagining it as just some Star Trek bridge, not specifically the newest incarnation. Which, by the way, I have trouble imagining as any whiter.


As to upgrading the ship and the exact Era of research available: For the same reason as "stat boost" powers being a no-brainer to approve, it's not that necessary to specify the exact power level of everything. That's because there aren't any numbers or dice. If the shields fail in combat, it's because the story needed for the shields to fail, not because somebody tracked the shield strength and announced "Now it's zero!". Which is not to say that we shouldn't try to strive for consistency.


However, to give you at least some specifications: The tech era is "sort of mid-ish", and I think it's unlikely the Saviour can be extensively upgraded mid-mission. It might have been possible on Age of Sail ships to just get better made cannons, but on modern warships, the whole thing is one integrated system, and you can't just upgrade one little bit. She might be retrofitted during a repair after a long flight, but that's not something which would just be written off as two paragraphs, more likely a year-spanning adventure (That's OOC years. It might only take months or weeks for the characters, but look at our current pace)

I don't really like the Enterprise bridge design. I think the Voyager bridge design is better.


@Zennock I am not sure what you mean by the raindrop thing, is it firework? I think it's firework...

Might be the screensaver. Because putting an actual window anywhere close to the bridge is a terminally stupid idea in an universe where spaceship combat is a thing, Laudmas is pressing his non-existent nose against a screen.

The lay out seems pretty good, I like the three levels of command  there. With the Captain at the back, then the two (or three I'm not sure) seats in the middle that I assume are Pilot and Co-Pilot (Maybe navigator as well?), and ending up with a long row of consoles up front. I agree with the assumption that the height difference would be greatly reduced. There doesn't seem to be a need for those lower doors in the ship we're on. Also, as a minor question, is it "The Savior", "The Saviour", or should it not matter?

As a Canadian who has heard that question countlessly, it really doesn't matter. If you use the US spelling or the Commonwealth spelling, it basically changes nothing.


Also, it just occurred to me: you've been playing Zeroes like his body and his head are two separate people. When they've been speaking to each other, have you been using different brackets to tell the two apart?

As another native Canadian, I know the feeling. My question for the purpose of establishing a convention for the RP to use. And yeah, I've been using the square bracket [] for Zeros and the squiggly one {} for The Automaton. If it's been unclear I can change one of them. The reason I didn't want to use () was in case I needed it for some other purpose, such as clarifying something else I write.

The convention about the u in the ship name is: "Whatever your spellchecker tells you and whether or not you think your character has a Commonwealth accent"

Thing is, I wanted to make alien worlds much more interesting. A lot of the times, planets often seem linear and un-imaginative. You have your acid rain, you have your EMP storm, you have your tidal waves. I want something completely new that nobody have ever really thought of. However, it's up for you to assume what it looks like. For me, they would resemble silver raindrops that seem to fizzle or pop when it lands on glass or metal. Firework sounds pretty good too. About the bridge, I imagined that it would look more like this:



However, instead of multiple *windows* there will instead be a single large screen that allowed one to view unto the outside world. Talking about *windows*, I first preferred the idea of having a *glass* shielded window but the *screen* idea sounds pretty good too.  However, I would to propose two options that can be made official.


Option 1: It is made of glass. However, it is made from a extremely strong material (For example, Dust).


Glass can actually be extremely strong and heat-resistant. Although there's no information that I have heard of the material that the ships' armour are made from, *glass* could actually be a valid idea. The reason why most commonly used glass in the real world are easy to break  is because of their molecular structure. To cut out most of the science involved, glass is just very rigid.  Think of a dried twig. It's pretty easy to snap it. Now imagine that same twig hydrated fully, you'll bend it a lot, but won't snap it. A piece of thin glass is similar to a dried twig. It won't bend if pressures are subjected to it. So it snaps.

However, image that same type of glass about thousands of not million of times thicker (Due to the materials we have in the Endless world). You'd have to put a large force, and probably very much concentrated in a very narrow way  before it  breaks. The only reason why the entire ship is not made of glass is probably because it would be extremely costly to make this type of glass. Heating it is also a big problem. However, given the technology, it's likely that almost indestructible glass can be made.


Option 2: It is actually a big screen that is connected to cameras which view the outside world. 


This is possibly more logical but to me, more boring. Basically, there are cameras that are attached to the outside of the ship that allows the passenger on board to view the outside world on a big screen. I prefer Option 1 because it sounds more daring and impossible. Nothing to protect you, but this almost indestructible piece of *glass*.



Apart from all this. How is the bridge I made up? I would really appreciate feedback. Also, do you think it is good enough to deem it official?

You're the ship doctor because there was nobody else available at the time you signed up. If somebody were to join with a character with an actual medical record, they'd get the job.

We also sort of have a scientist on board, if that's what you mean by an 'observer'. The scientist in question specializes in astrology and seems to be more of a dabbler in other fields, though, so if you want to make your 'observer' a specialist in another kind of science, like botany, biology, or geology, that might work too. I'm not a GM, though, so I can't say for certain.
