Having a look at the features they sound amazing!

I've been thinking alot about how civilzation kinda forces you down certain routes of play before you even hit the begin game button. This happens because of the way you have to choose a civilizaiton before you start the game and how the victory conditions are designed, forcing you to think only a certain way and aim for it from the very beginning of the game. Going super science for a science victory or culture for a culture victory etc etc

Desigining your own civilization while you play gets rid of one of these problems and a single unified victory condition deals with the other, allowing you to be much more free form with your play.

You madmen could be dealing with two huge problems 4x games have had since forever.

I cannot put into words how pumped i am. I cannot wait to get my hands on this game

This may be the game I've been waiting for - recent entries from that other prominent 4X series have gone a bit astray. Just so glad my other favourite 4X developer is giving the history 4X genre a shove in a new direction.

I agree. This way of proceeding is very interesting.

As a long time Civ player and a student of history, it seemed ahistorical and gamey to me to have a full toolset of abilities right off the bat. Real cultures found ways to leverage what was in front of them. The Mongols didn't develop mobile cavalry hordes because they were Mongols. They developed them because they had horses and lived on a vast steppe. They wouldn't have developed that resource if they were in the Andes or the British Isles. The English developed a navy because they found themselves surrounded by water, not because they were English.

So it makes sense to me that a player accrue traits over time, choosing ones that can best leverage the surroundings or address the challenges that they player faces.

It's a long time in coming!

I am very excited. Amplitude definitely has the skills to pull this off and make a great game.

I can't wait.

It's nice to finally have a competitor to arrogant Firaxis. The only time they communicate with the fans is when they want to shill something...not impressed. Civ V/VI are great games but the company I could do without.
