since the reveal of Humankind I am very much hyped for this game. I have therefore started playing CIV 6 again.
I am just now very certain of one gameplay feature which needs to be improved a lot in my opinion. The EndGame!
I love every Civ game until something like the Atom Era. But after that it just feels like clicking buttons and not doing anything else. All you do is build buildings and districts in your cities that suit your winning gameplan. The only time you are haveing some action is when you play a war-type civilization.
So my question is: What do you think about 4x Games and their EndGame and what are your ideas for making the endgame more exciting than in CIV 6 for example?

I can definitely agree with this after the mid game it often feels like it's already decide who wins the game and everything that is left is clicking through until the victory screen makes it official. Personally I think this is because most 4x games have barely any comeback mechanics while it's very easy to snowball an early advantage.
I hope the fame system is able to help with this issue, but it could also be that in some situations the (fame) lead from the ealry game is too big to realistitcally catch up.
Therefore I think it's very important they include possibilites to come back. A possibility I would like would be if they included some smaller countries in the cultures to choose from in the later stages of the game with effects that are stronger if the player has less territorry / less population as this is from my experience often a very good indicator to see how well someone is doing.
They could for example include Singapore and / or Switzerland in the modern age, but which countries or cultures they exactly choose is not that important as long as it serves the purpose.

Sound like a great idea. The possibility to come back after you have gained a disadvantage should be very cool.
Also I think that exploration should be more interesting over the course of a game, since it is the most exciting part in every game of Civ I have played yet. Not knowing what comes next is very thrilling and I love the hunt for the best spots to build your cities at.
But I am very uncertain on how to maintain this exploration-feeling as you evolve with your culture and will enter the modern times over the course of a game. And then you have technologies like satellite etc. which simply take away this feeling of exploration and uncertainty.
I just hope that there will be fun end game mechanics that spice up the gameplay and make it less predictive.
This is one of the reasons I always play Civ games on a "Terra" type map. This is a map which has all major powers start on a single large continental mass (Eurasia/Africa equivilent). There is always some other continental mass (or sometimes two) representing the Americas which only becomes accessable with Astronomy later in the game.
This works *so well* because it occurs right about the time that all usable land on the original continent has been explored and settled by all the major powers. So right when exploration and settling stops in the midgame, suddenly there's a mad rush of exploration and settling of the "New World" by many factions (some may use this opportunity to conquer others who expend resources settling the new world).
IMHO, this should be the 'default' setup for any civ-type game for the above reasons.
The Christopher Columbus event makes it sound like the dev team is taking a Terra map type approach as the default (although it also sounds like you can choose amongst multiple map types, since Pangea is listed as a map type that will disable this event).

Seems like you have informations about the game that I do not have :D
Where did you find the info with the Pangaea map type etc. ?
