I'll gladly give this thread/suggestion an upvote.

I am sick and tired of this always online and always only digital downloads etc. Not that i don't have broadband. I even a good and fast one. However freedom of choice is always best. I am so dissepointed when even if a physical copy exists, all You get is a code to type into some launcher and download. I accept that if it's like an MMO RPG where You dop need access to the company servers tyo even play in the online world, but not for games like this where all I want to do is play locally in single-player. I should not even need to have a steam account for that to be honest.

I like physical copies for the sake of collecting as well. Even if it still requires having to d/l and install initially from for example steam, I still want a phyiscal copy. Even some Collectors edition with some physical miniatures, statues, art-books etc. Preferably a DVD with the game that one can install and all patches being availbale as downloads so that one can save them on a HD and in case wanting to install on a PC in the future when ouit travelling, holiday to remote locations, or a boat, in a cabin in the woods etc not even needing to be online to install the DVD and all it's patches. Not to mention that the less places I need to fill in m y private information the better for security reasons. 3rd party launchers like steam, epic game etc (morfe and morfe evry day it seems just like streaming services requires You to fill in full real name, adress often, e-mail, phone number etc. I'm so tired of that, nmoyt to mention their securityu is often full of holes, as well as tired of remembering all log-ins. It has become too much of a hassle to just get to play the game You paid for.

I prefer the way it was with for example Heroes of Might and Magic III and IV. I still have all the patches I got from 3DO support section without having to fill out any form and tell them my shoie size or under wear model and I also still have my original CD's of all the expansions and don't need to log in or be online to install the games on a PC. Even Microsoft have stand-alone patches You can download, keep and install manually of all the KB updates. Unfortunetly You might still need to be online. Not sure I have not tested doing a complete windows install and patch everything that way without being online.

In any case I start rambling. Yes to physical copies of games. Buy it and own it. Not rent for some time and be in the hands of some 3rd party company that might one day stop supporting the game or go out of business and end up with a game I can't make a fresh install and play on a new PC in the future. Not to mention You can't even re-sell games these days just because of needing some code that once used no one else can install the game. I guess that is why companies likes to do that. So everyone needs to buy a game directly form them. Personally i never sell my games, not even when it was possible as I like to have them in my collection, but I think the choice and option should be there. Hey I can resell a car, MC, a bike, a smartphone, PC, clothes etc, why can't I resell my games if I want to ??? Look now I'm rambling again. :)

Yes, I want a physical copy on my shelf too.

I also like Physical copies

I think it stopped because its more expensive but it would be nice to consider it, maybe as a special edition or limited one

I almost never consider getting these kinds of special editions for games but from what I've seen from OpenDev and all the promotional material, I'm hyped enough for this game to buy a special box set edition. One of my favorite things in games (emergent narratives) seem to be a serious focus here which makes me super excited.

The Devs made not know untill close to launch (we still are in pre-alpha) But I think all previous amplitude titles (except the free love thyself ofc) have had physical releases.
Though I would not expect some super collectors edition as you do get with some AAA titles.

What if the ultimate collector edition included the actual Giza pyramids?

Fun fact, Akhet Khufu alone is estimated to contain over 2.3 million stone blocks, for a whopping 5,75 million tons. That would take A LOT of UPS delivery trucks....

That reminds me of World in Conflict special edition, that included an alledged authentic piece of the Berlin Wall.
