Broad generalizations are not uncommon in legal texts. Besides, "offline token" doesn't bear more meaning to common reader, then "certain files of the Denuvo Anti-Tamper Technology".
Maybe it does not bear much meaning "offline token" but "certain files" can mean anything and it could be as well anything and you agree to this anything. They could say: "certain files but limited to a offline token and nothing more than that purpose" so it can be that what you said. Otherwise it can really be anything and they can put what they want even by intent and they will not be liable if you agree to so generic terms. That is a problem
You are taking it too far here. If you don't like details or explanations that I can share, then I will simply cease to provide them to you.
If you would have read my post in it`s totality you would have seen that i said "thanks @Sublustris for taking the time to detail how you would like the EULA to be and i agree your way of writing it would have been much better than how it is officially right now" also i mentioned before that i appreciate you and although sometimes our points of view differ i respect you and appreciate your strong willingness for a cause that i also support but in what i feel is a fair way and not in a 1 sided way. Also i like that you never attack the person but what they say and that i respect that, it`s a trait that respectful and intelligent people have.
I was just pointing out that what you explained are just opinions and bear no official and legal basis and what is written in the EULA is all that matters LEGALLY so you agree only to that
If you look at history a lot of companies use generic terms in legal contracts just to abuse them afterwards. So if you ever want to buy a house and the owner says in the contract: you get just the garden and other additional stuff and does not mention clearly the house my advice is: don`t sign that contract and ruunnn :)))
There are no plans to add Denuvo to Humankind after launch
Sorry if the wording on that was unclear :)
@Natco Thank you so much for this needed clarification :)
This is it guys, the ultimate answer from the Devs we were waiting for: Denuvo is gone once and for all!
Therefore, I will close this thread now as I don't think any additional discussion will bring us any further. And also because I want new people coming here to see this important information, whether they just read the first page of this thread or jump to the end of it (I will post an update on the OP with a Link to Natco's statement).
One last note:
I have seen countless commentaries on Steam from people saying they will not buy the game because of Denuvo. There is a pinned thread in the Communityhub, but they have the same discussion about the wording.
So change the Steam store page ASAP and remove the mentioning of Denuvo!
Thank you Amplitude for being such a great team of dedicated developers, thank you for listening, thank you for caring about your community, thank you for all the great games you have made for us.
And thank you to everyone being part of this discussion.
