I noticed after the new patch today that the buyout button has essentially become useless. The price for a city construction buyout is still reduced every turn as construction proceeds normally, but the reduction is infinitesimal - to the extent that the buyout price with only one turn left is practically the same as when the construction was started. So if you can't afford to buy it out from the beginning of construction, you almost certainly will never be able to buy it out at all. Is this working as intended?

Thanks for that! Idk but I think it's definitely different. The formula for influence purchases has also changed, which I think I saw in the patch notes and I understand that change more as it was perhaps too easy to buy extractors/harbors etc with influence before. Although it does amount to a huge nerf to my beloved Assyrians :(

To be clear, the devs said that as far as they know it hasn't changed and is working as expected. A specific save file with a city where you feel the formula is wrong could prove to them that something is actually broken / bugged.

I'd say something definitely did change as gold almost becomes impossible to use in any real way with buyout costs being up'd. I always thought before the patch things were already too high but this is now to a point where gold is almost meaningless if not for spending to buy trade goods (which has not increased).

Playing in 2024 I can clearly say that they changed a lot about money system. Because right now you can easily farm a lot of money and become a God due to price of everything. As a newcomer to this type of games, I can say that it is a positive side for me.

Is this some kind of special farming technique?
