I was in the Early game, we're talking fist era.  I was Zhou, beseiging my opponent's capital city.   I had ransacked two of three of his other territories and wasn one turn away from completing my ransack of his last territory.  His military consisted of a single warrior and I was beseiging his capital with three scouts.

Every turn he would attack my beseiging units with his warrior, but in the battle he would never leave his city.  Since he was attacking me, all I had to do to defend my flag was END TURN, END TURN, END TURN.   This happened time after time after time.  He actually lost the only militia he had in the city because the seige lasted so long.

Since the A.I. acts with the speed of an A.I., I was unable to slip in my own warrior units to conduct the seige before he started the next raid against my 3 beseiging scouts.  I was willing to continue this until I discovered ORGANIZED WARFARE so I could bring my own warrior units in as reinforcements instead.

So that is the situation.   Enemy keeps trying to raid from the capital city but fails every time.  I'm happy to keep the seige up.

So what happens next?    He forces me to surrender?

WHAT!!!?

I killed all his units, ransacked all his territories and successfully defended my flag every time he attacked.   HOW DID I LOSE THAT WAR???

It's B.S. like this that makes me leave the game for months until i forget the frustration and pick it up again for my 4X fix.

the war support mechanic is always controversial, but imo this time it's also kinda your fault for not checking your war support when dragging a war. there are so many factors like the AI using placate mechanic every turn, etc. Their unit died sure, but one unit only counts as -2 war support while if the AI placate you every turn you get -10 every turn.
