Hey guys, this post is just a quick "brainstorming" of my first impressions on the new update

  • The new main menu background is awesome. What if in the future we will be able to change it ourselves or if it will be a random one like in the loading screen?

  • The game performances are generally improved. The early game feels way smoother (I play on a laptop, so...) and it handles generally better also the textures
  • I tried a little the new public cerimonies. Now their better - and its wonderful - but still don't feel it to be really part of the game
  • I love all the new personas (but now the game won't make me modify my own persona PS: now it works - it was because I clicked at the new personas but the "bug" persisted also when I switched to my own persona and I couldn't modify it)
  • I generally like also the culture rebalances (though I think that the Mayan EQ should be reworked a little bit like the Moghul one and other minor stuff...)
  • Apparently the Russian LT buff was not added (the -25% territory attachment cost) - It's quite depressing considering the fact that the Russians were already a terrible culture and now they are just a bad one (their LT just doesn't work well with the 5th era playstyle)

  • Some civics and infrastructures still look either awful or OP (ex: the slaves civic and the sawmill infrastructure)
  • In the early game now Animal Barns and Forge are mostly ignorable infrastructures (its better in every way building districts or other things)
  • I'm not a very big fun of the adjacences of Holy Sites (it's ok as an addition, but it's not so UI friendly having 10 lines of description just for that on wonders)

Overall I'm very happy with all these changes and although the game still isn't perfect these are some very good steps in the right direction. I can't wait to see what this new yers expects us, but I hope we shall see more updates in the future. I hope that one day or another we could have an update about either Faith or the late game in general (that sometimes it feels too rushed than it should)

Probably this LT would work significantly better in the 4th era. I guess it would fit well the theme of a Muscovite culture (Russians could have a bonus on sustaining better wars and Influence, though now Sobor handles the job quite well)

I've also noticed that the game lets you enact at the same time the open-minded and the religious hostility civics

Oh, and the Colonization civic still feels useless (it gives very little bonuses and its prerequisite should not be based on cities New World, but just on other continents than the one of your capital)

They reintroduced the forced surrender making the game unplayable.

I would like also to add my two cents.
I have finished another one George sand update game and it was really awesome. Ability to buy airports and place squadrons on very remote lands fully changes modern warfare. Using new trade system also give very interesting options, like making money on war and etc.

The main right thing of this update is going towards rebalancing and improving qol. I thing several such updates will make this game really candy. Hope that devs finally will change ingame formulas for city growth and rework some infra and civics. For example it is still unprofitable to sacrifice pop for building (25 pops for 1 turn district).
The main frustrating things during my walkthroughs are:

1. There are too little animals in the beginning. I played around 5 games and didn’t reached hunting star. I have never seen deers or bears during those games. Only mammoths.
2. I can’t hire most IPs armies. Only 2 units while it have 8 more units standing near their city. It is very frustrating thing, I hope one day we could be able to hire all their armies

3. Very little strategic resources on big maps. Like 1 saltpetre extractor on whole continent. Same for aluminium or uranium.

Hello @karlmeitroppe. This effect is a penalty applied when you are over your city cap. It is introduced by the TRUE ENDLESS SPEED mod. Increase your city cap or reduce your cities over cap to reduce and eventually remove this penalty.

Too much hype. Not enough product. Wouldn't recommend Amplitude products in the future - maybe if aesthetics is a player's biggest interest.

I've also noticed that the game doesn't tell you how badges work (how to obtain them and what they do) and you can't end a land battle if you killed all your enemies land troops except any melee water unit present in that battle (that, actually, can't do anything at all)

Yeah this has been a problem for many years.

I kindly disagree about forge and barns becoming worse. They are literally as they were, if only slightly worse, because if previously forge/barn gave 5 industry/deposit, now it gives 1/instance/deposit with an average deposit holding 4 instances of the resource. I currently play a game where by turn 70 I am getting 40 industry from the copper/forge. Remember, this is a tier 1 infrastructure.

Maybe you're right, but surely now it's not my n.1 thing that I build in every city like I used to be (and probably it's also because I don't usually trade strategic resources as much as the luxury ones)
