No registration email for game to receive "exclusive "ancestor" avatar customization set + special g2g community badge. Tried with email tied to this acount as well as 2 other email addresses. The Welcome email never arrives.

As far as I know, if you have subscribed to the newsletter through the Humankind page, you'll receive the Ancestor Avatar reward.

Is the g2g badge supposed to be active now or not until game release? If now, then I'm going to say the registration doesn't work as the badge doesn't show up.

Sorry, I did not get the Avetar either.

Neither the Avatar nor G2G reward are available yet. If you have signed up to the newsletter, you should receive the avatar when the game releases. The next time we send a Humankind newsletter email, I will make a post in this thread, then you can double-check that you have received it and your email is properly registered.
