I've played 3 games so far with different cultures, and reading some other threads, I shared the feeling of gold-oriented cultures are too overpower currently.
UI
With the vast amount of money, I also discovered that the "buy out" bottom of cities is a little buggy.
It's designed as a toggle, so I assume I can keep buying out when I have the toggle on. But no, at least not always. I bought out one item and sometimes it switched back to production list. What is worse, the toggle is still on. I have to click on the toggle again to enable buy out. Also if I switch city with the buy out toggle on, same issue, toggle still on but I see a production list.
Diplomacy
I believe I'm not the only one got confused about who on the earth "AI 2" is. The only hint for that in the game now is the text color. Should at least also remind me what culture they are currently, so that I understand who I'm dealing with?
Also crisis. Similar to the complaints in other threads, "You" did something and here's what "you" can do, and "I" can make a demand. My OP would be "what did I do? I created an outpost too close to my friend?" just about to apologize, I demanded their outpost and they gave it to me and raised their war desire... I think this "you" creates a lot of confusion. In a game, when a UI pop up, I believe most of players will refer "you" as "I". This can be improved by changing "you" to the name of player that triggers the crisis, a lot easier to understand.
I don't really understand how trading works so far. I was able to buy resources, but say I have 3 copies of coffee I want to sell, there's no way to do that? No offers in, no proposal I can make. Any reason?
War declaration. I got war declared just by countering and defusing demands, and I didn't even realize it until by border city was under siege. I think notification for war status should be more... alarming? And we probably should get warnings for potential war consequence when making diplomatic desicions.
Way Finding
Coastal ships will "get lost" in ocean tiles, this totally makes sense. But when I told my ship to go to a coastal tile, the route cut through multiple ocean tiles and I didn't notice it until I lost the ship. I know we allow coastal units to enter ocean to take a chance and explore the other side of (one tile) ocean, but at least should we get a warning say your ship is one the way to ocean are you sure you want to do that?
Battle
Battle was fun! Reinforcement is awesome! I managed to reinforce a city under siege and crush my opponent with newly arrived swordsman. Great design and made battle results more unforeseeable.
One minor comment is I wasn't able to swap units in battle. I had to move one out and move another to its location, then move the previous to latter location. Took me 2 rounds instead of 1... Is this design or bug?
Overall this round of Opendev is great! I will keep playing and then miss it for another 4 month until official release!
