Thanks for the great OpenDev with the Lucy build.  The game was quite fun and quite well done. This thread is to provide some feedback on the User Interface:

1) War: At one point, I ended up at war with a country because I had declared war on its ally.  Whatever message I got about this was too subtle, so I missed it.  I suggest adding something to the "nation" icons in the upper left - some outline that indicates war status.  At the other end, Open borders would also be helpful.

2) Right-Clicking versus Left-Clicking: Most of the time, this makes sense.  However, the default right-click to exit would sometimes cause me to jump out of something I was trying to do.  This was especially true in combat.  Is the intent that right clicking completes a move when a unit is selected, or else escapes from the current options?  So, a melee unit could attack with a right click, whereas a ranged unit needs to left click?

3) Zooming: Mostly, I think the map zooming is a thing of genius.  I love how this works.  However, when attaching a territory, the button to attach is hidden unless one is zoomed in sufficiently.  I suggest leaving these visible if a city is currently selected or if the user has clicked the attach link on the city.

4) Attaching - see above.  When clicking on the link icon on the city, the list that pops up is not very helpful.  It is good to know what these are, but it would be helpful to have them highlighted on the map as you mouse over the different options.

5) The tutorial - I'm always glad to see these, but the tutorial suffered from covering up important text.  Two cases in point:

    a) When selecting a culture, the first popup shows to the left, which is fine.  However, the next popup shows up underneath, where it covers up key aspects of the culture its describing.  Better to keep all these popups to the left or right so the user can still see what they need to read.

    b) The diplomacy pop up covers key real estate in the center of the screen.  I couldn't figure out what it wanted me to do, so was very hard to clear.  I think it wanted to force me to make a treaty, which I didn't want.

    c) Allow some option to clear a single step of the tutorial, without disabling the entire thread.

6) Ranged units in combat (see the note about left versus right clicking in (3) above): I was often blocked from shooting at units on higher ground.  It wasn't clear what this was - was it an line of sight issue, or reduced range because the attackers were on higher ground?  There needs to be a visual indication when selecting a unit as to what valid targets it has.

Best wishes.

Oh, and please add the current (real) time to the end turn button.  That was a great feature of Endless Space.

Agreed on all counts of the OP, especially how awkward the whole "left-click, right-click" felt throughout the whole game.

Also, please don't put white letters on a white background. Because I don't know how we're supposed to read this:
