I didn't desire to conquer whole world...

I didn't desire to conquer whole world; all I wanted was a peaceful reign!

I don't deny I enjoy wartime fighting disturbingly way too much but this time all I wanted was a peaceful rule among our neighbours aiming to achieve technological prowess; "Nooo!" they said, "We feel Hate Filled, Aggressive and Jealous of you. Give me Kawah Ijen, give me Kitalpha, give me my independent people, surrender to my ally..."

"Come and get it... if you can!" I replied. "Tell you Emperor, even his dreams cannot grasp where our puissance can reach!"

I was able to unite almost whole of Europe under my banner in the beginning of the campaign.

AI then formed alliances against me and at some point decided to protect their allies considering it was the right time to react. They followed each other in declaring war or making me declare by refusing my demands. Only AI I didn't have war against was Black Maya; they were just chilling in their desert in the middle of a global chaos. I'm not sure why it turned out this way.

I always enjoy aggression from rival empires early on in campaigns. Ancient/Classical/Medieval warfare is my favourite. Besides, in this campaign I might not be as innocent as I would think of myself; I never yielded to their demands and asked them to sweeten the deals for me to accept those non-aggression pacts they have been requesting since the beginning of the game. It's still not my fault, though; they kept stealing wonders I desperately needed, three times in a row and exactly in the same turn I just saved enough influence to claim those. So deep down in my heart I was hoping that they would save me from the burden of declaring war with a 'resolute but heavy heart'. What can I say? I just needed those wonders. :)))

It was definitely a tour de force to deal with all of them at once but what a pleasure it was (and still is since wars are ongoing at the moment). The Himalayan passages in Giant Earth Map where Pink Aksumites established city of Sidon was especially a nightmare to march through. I could barely travel through this region tile by tile while waging mountain warfare against two empires and could make it at the gates of the capital Byblos of now Pink English just in time, in the exact turn that they had to surrender.

Lighthouse of Alexandria that I desperately needed to set sails for New World was in Byblos whose boundaries were not even visible enough to let me plan my attack until last turn and I had only one turn to conquer the city. I think I now know how Anibal (Hannibal) might have felt when he finally managed to march his army with 37 war elephants through Pyrenees and Alps.

Right after the fall of Byblos under swords of exhausted but determined army of Melik Alp Arslan who managed to pass through mighty and rigorous Himalayan mountains, Green Byzantines declared war in hope to save Londonia, largest city of Pink English and neighbour to Byzantines, from a similar fate, without, of course, knowing that two most powerful armies of Cezzâr Ahmed Paşa and Zağanos Paşa were in the vicinity of Kitalpha, just west of vast plains of their capital Hàojïng. Needless to say, they now regret this decision while trapped in the besieged Forbidden City waiting the time for their once weatlhy and mighty empire to perish into crumbles.

Humankind is such a joy to play! It's been 850hrs (including Closed Beta) and counting and I can still think of numerous different paths to follow for next campaigns.

Thank you, Daarkarrow,

and thank you, all devs for making one of the best 4X games I've been immensely enjoying so far. You didn't fail to deliver a quite memorable gaming experience.

The screenshots remind me of something I no longer consciously appreciate after playing for so long, that HK looks good on average and then mindblowingly beautiful on some (many) occasions. I'd really love if we could get a dynamic day/night cycle, disjointed from in-game calendar or, in fact, gameplay, just days slowly passing by as we play the game to make for even better pictures and memories...

Also, great to see one of your stories compiled like this, el-Fakir!

This is a great idea. I'd definitely love to see such a day/night cycle implemented in Humankind, at least maybe for upcoming photo-mode only at first. It would increase immersion and enrich the illusion of time passing if it was early morning in the beginning of a turn and sun was almost setting above west horizon by the time we reached end of turn.

You posting your story made me want to post a story I made a looooooong time ago about my first game. I made it when the game first launched and input it on steam. I think I may still have the pictures I took for it. But I wrote the story about all my enemies as well. Thinking of posting it but it is from really old gameplay.

Yes, you should definitely post it here. It doesn't matter if it's an old story or you don't have the screenshots anymore; I'm always eager to read campaign stories of other players.
