The Endless Day celebration has come to an end, so let’s take stock of what’s been going on.
Streams
Over the course of the week, we invited you all to join us on stream over on Twitch or Youtube. We started out with our usual gameplay streams, joined by a few special guests over the weekend, but then concluded the week of streams by inviting SpaceTroll and Slowhands on stream to talk about the past, present, and future of Amplitude studios (like some of the crazy names that were considered, and the experience of striking our on your own as a studio). The day after that, one of our environment artists joined us on Stream for some “Endless Trivia Jenga.” Yes, that game was as crazy as it sounds, but it was great fun! (Predictably, we lost to the chat.)
The Community Challenge
As part of the celebration, we also issue a challenge to our community: How many players would start games of Endless Legend and Endless Space 2 over the week of the Celebration? AFter a slow start, you picked up speed, and by the end of the challenge you had surpassed the final stretch goal by far, unlocking all of these rewards:
- Free Endless Space 2 DLC: The first reward you unlocked was a free copy of the Endless Space 2 DLC Untold Tales for everybody, available for a limited time. For one week from now, you can add this free DLC to your Steam library by going to your profile and claiming your reward. If you don't own Endless Space 2, you will be given a discount coupon instead.
- Wallpapers: Along the way to the final stretch goal, you also unlocked two new wallpapers that you can find in the Rewards section in formats adapted to various screen and devices.
- New Endless Space 2 Hero: As our long-time players know, Dungeon of the Endless included a secret hero you could only play by getting lucky with a Random Character: Ayairi Whairydd, the pug who accompanied the merchant and “by far the smartest being on Auriga.” The pugs continued that tradition of hanging out with merchants in Endless Legend, and thanks to our community unlocking the third stretch goal, they will now join Endless Space 2 as well! We will add a new hero to Endless Space 2, a descendent of the famous Ayairi.
- Endless Space 2 Digital Artbook: The final reward you unlocked (at an impressive 400,000 games of Endless Legend and Endless Space 2 started out of the 300,000 required) during our celebration is the Endless Space 2 Digital Artbook. This will join the Endless Legend and Dungeon of the Endless artbooks in our rewards section once it is done, giving you both high-quality artwork and commentary from our Creative/Art/Narrative Directors.
The Beer2Gether Event
Last Thursday, we also celebrated with a few of you here in Paris! This year was the first time this Beer2Gether was not hosted at the studio, so we will let the pictures speak for themselves:
