Anyone has purchased this terrible port? Yes, I made a mistake and purchased it. It is the worst port on PC to date I think. No real resolution options and 30 FPS cap. I know game is awesome on consoles but it is really bad on the PC. We can discuss this game on this topic. smiley: smile

From what I know, the game isn't a "bad port" - it's just not optimized for PC. From Software (the developers) were originally going to fix all the issues present on console versions and improve the graphics and framerate for PC, but they had massive difficulties (they've never done a PC port before) so they instead went for a straight port with no alterations. If you're having incredible issues, I find it hard to believe it's the worst PC port - I would assume it's something outside the game causing issues.

As for the game on consoles, you're right, it IS amazing. I've sunk ~300 hours into that game. The combat is so tight and the combat so satisfying, I often find myself returning to it when I make other bad purchases.

As for whether or not I bought it, I'm more or less boycotting it. The PC port released with exclusive add-on content that's going to be made as DLC for consoles later this year; which has earned a lot of anger from the community, as it's just another publisher grasp for cash (withhold content from the community that's kept the game alive just to boost PC sales; there's nothing preventing From Soft from releasing the expansion for consoles). I'm going to wait for the DLC thank you very much.

Refusing to rework the controls so they work with the native user controls of a platform is considered horrible design.

I.E. They didn't bother to properly adapt the game to mouse/keyboard - unless you play the game with a gamepad you're in for a trip down horrible street.

Well, like Fenrakk said, the developers never have done a PC port before. Chances are they simply don't know how to best optimize it for the PC.

Modders in the community are already at work though, apparently. It's no excuse that they should be the ones to optimize it, but they are. I know there's already a mod out to let the resolution be changed, so you aren't locked in at the console-level graphics. So, it's a start.

When you play with a controller, the game has some of the most intuitive controls ever. And when I heard about the PC port I stared at my keyboard for a good two hours trying to figure out how the hell it would work. Simply put, it was never going to; the game was designed from the ground-up for consoles, and for gamepads.

And remember the port was more or less put together by the publisher, so you can't really blame the devs. Blame the publisher for not hiring any PC port-specialists.

Like I said, they were originally trying to, but something came up that prevented them from doing so; I forget exactly what. and besides, the game has a strong community who can respond to it, so relying on the modders isn't a horrible alternative either.
