Wonderful game, even though I'm not the biggest fan of tactical strategies. But still, being able to damage specific modules is a great feature~

If OP is still looking for advice (despite having had over a moth to play the game...), I'd just say "take your time". The game is far from being rushed (just as you would expect of space battles) and everything takes a while to complete.
