I love Gork and I don't understand the hate. He's serviceable as a door opener on early levels because the speed doesn't matter and he can easily solo groups alone if necessary. Late game he's a massive offensive powerhouse that just mows down enemies. Get 5 or so hero AP buffing turrets up and he can practically hold a choke point alone.



Edit: and how could I forget one of his best qualities, he's the only hero that uses machine guns. It's a massive advantage in this game to not have heroes that compete with one another for weapon upgrades.



Sara seems to sacrifice far too much for her speed. Low hp, low defense, and low DPS is not a good combo in this game. She makes an ok module operator who can run to the front lines quickly to help out which is nice in some layouts but rarely do I find myself thinking 'it's a good thing I had sara.' Before the hacker passive was added I would have gone with op bot but now I think sara is it for me.

Damm, I miss click... I vote Troe Pekenyo, but Golgy Phurtiver is the less useful for me. She take damage too quickly, event with equipment. Troe Pekenyo is for perfect for combat & exploring! :P A good speed, a good resistance, better than Sara Numas. That's why he don't need to be good for modules. And I love his name. With a sword (They all need equipment to be good..): a monster killer. He has good active skills.

About Gork Koroser (the stand alone defender!) I understand the vote, but with a tutu he is so cool!

Pretty close between Hikensha and Troe. Neither are good for modules, and neither are particularly good at combat or exploring. The other heroes are useful for at least one other role.

I argee with alot of people here, gork is good at being a tank which is his main role, but I believe he should be a tad faster.

Sara is actually one of my favorites, because she's great either as a door-opener, or as a rear-lines operator. I can afford to put her very far from the choke-point, and still get her up and into enemy faces if I need to. She's decent as a crystal carrier too (Troe is excellent, but I'd rather leave him open to actually fight while someone less competent at kicking butt carries the crystal)

I also voted for Gork. The reason why i voted for him is not that i hate him, its just that there is not much to do for him. He is extreme powerful but lacks movespeed. So most of the time he is standing in one spot defending and kills whatever moves in his room. He is fine by himself. Not much to do for me except finding a suitable room for him. Don't get me wrong, the game needs such heroes, but he is a bit boring to play.



In summary: I don't hate Gork. I just find other heroes more interesting.

Max is most definitely bugged on weapon speed. Thankfully he has one of the better passives in the game: +2 dust when dust is found. On the later levels it can be a sizable boon to income and it doesn't depend on finding the right items.

Geez, why do so many people hate Gork? He's always great for me. The only time I was dissatisfied with his performance was the one run I had where I found absolutely zero submachine guns, not even from the merchant. It was infuriating. He was basically a living wall: virtually impassable...but he couldn't actually do anything to hold back waves. The low speed doesn't bother me too much because I usually just park him at a choke point and let him rack up kills. If it starts being a problem (read: if I'm stuck with an FUzzi instead of a Gatling Gun or the wonderful 99Gig) then I just give him a speed-boosting item. The Tutu and the Orange Suit are both pretty good armor sets and they both give about five extra speed on average. Then if I still want to squeeze some more speed out of him, I just give him an energy bar or a Thing. Plus, both of those items reduce his attack cooldown, so that's just adding to his already pretty-good DPS.



Otherwise, he's a blast, especially for levels four and five. He's got great DPS, insane defense, and equally insane health. And in my last runthrough, I even got a toolbelt for him for levels three and four, so he was even giving me an extra 2 FIDS per turn, for whatever it was worth.



My least favorite is Hikensha. As far as melee heroes go, Sara's faster, Troe's stronger, Opbot's smarter, and Golgy's more reliable/has better abilities. Despite having a decent starting wit, not only is she the most expensive to upgrade early on, but she can't even operate modules until level four (I think). And most of her abilities are trash. I don't care about fighting marginally better in unlit rooms, and I like my active abilities to make my heroes tougher or faster...not commit hari-kiri.



Second-least favorite is probably Opbot. He's great with modules, but from about level three onward, he just doesn't have the stats to hold out without immediate support or a ton of defenses. On top of that, no other hero uses spears, which are rather underpowered to begin with.



Third goes to Max O'Kane, but only because he seems to be bugged or something. The more cooldown-reducing items and weapons I give him, the slower he fires his gun. Maybe one of the new enemies increases attack cooldowns on each hit or something, but I've only noticed it from him. Nurse Ratchet can shoot like Inspector Tequila with a DPS weapon/item, but Max just doesn't do as well.

...maybe except Hikensha Yeah, had a hard time choosing between the two. Hikensha is just soooooooooo painfully average. But I really like the ideas behind this hero so I refrained from voting for him.

I hated Gork, because of his low Speed, but after last run i know his positive side. Just level him up early and give him some Items, he was my damage dealer and undestroyable tank on level 3 and above. 1600TP, 120 SSP and the "Me First!"-Ability. Let him stay at base and fight/tank there. really good.



Sara, you need to take care of her. Get her some good Dmg-Tool-items and she soon became my runner, who fought lonely waves solo.



I really dont like Hikesha, so mediocre on every aspect. Not bad at anything but not good at anything :S

I have a hard time picking a "least favorite." I actually rather like Gork: He's a mobile turret, and I often need that, especially towards the end. The real problem I have with him is that he seldom survives the later levels, where being able to move when wave after wave comes charging after the person with the crystal happens (and none of my defenses seem to slow them down). He inevitably dies there. But other than that, he's fine.



I honestly find Opbot the most irritating. There are four kinds of weapons in the game: spears, swords, guns and machine guns, and OpBot is the only one to ever use a spear, so every time I get a spear and I don't have him, I growl "Opbot!" at the screen. He also starts with repair, which is useless out of the box, and means I have to burn food very early on a level up so he can be an operator. Now, he's good as an operator, which is great, but I also need characters who are decent at combat, and he's honestly not. The result is that I inevitably lose him. The net result is a character who hurts that absolutely vital initial first level, and tends to falter on me towards the end. Mid-game he's decent, though.

Which hero do you like the least and why?



For me it's Gork because he is too slow for my needs.

I don't have a reeally least favorite hero. But I definitely have favorite one. Samus for sure. She's just so fast, I love her, and with the turtle skill, she even can tank. So basically she can be a very versatile character, but with a real strength anyway (her speed).

I really like Gork. He's slow, but for me it's not really a problem. I give him (when I can) a big armor who reduce his speed but give him very high defense and HP, and I let him in a area. If he have proper equipment, he can defend it by himself, with some modules. So he compensate his speed by his tank abilities. Two Gork would be very bad, but just one? I like it. : )

If only Hikensha was a bit faster. Or not so damn expensive to level up in the beginning when resources are scarce.

Personally, Troe is too good at times, but maybe I am a bit biased with him because his last name is just too funny for me. Gork is a unique guy, really cool, but he isn't fit to survive alone, Max, probably one of my favorites, he has the wits, and the strength to be a great leader, Hikensha, well she is a useful scout in the dark, but alone, she will die, so she and Gork are kinda..eh. I am still hoping Skroig becomes the new Hero that can be my new favorite.

I feel that Hikensha is specialized for battling in unpowered rooms with the special abilities that she has. Also, Hikensha's increased wit fro endless ruin discovery has not been implemented yet so that makes one of her abilities currently useless. But for now I voted her. Troe would be 2nd worst.

Why the Hikensha hate? She's honestly my favorite; Troe is the one I hate getting. Low damage and pitiful health/defense without items, he is literally useless without equips. Since it's not always a guarantee to get good equipment, and I hate just giving it to him to make him even average, I often give it to better heroes. His skills are decent, if he can get the equipment and levels to survive, and his speed makes him a nice primary. Wit isn't high enough to do anything useful there, though.

I agree: Gork is just too slow to scout and to dumb to sit back at the "base". However if you get one of those wit+5 items he's quite usefull for latter task.

So much Gork hate! He's easily one of my favorites. I don't care for Max too much. I don't feel like his skills are useful enough for my playstyle except for verbal abuse. But I'd rather just have Nurse Deena for that and her Health Regen.

Gork is slow. But Hikensha is pretty mediocre at evrything, stopping her from filling any role as well as more specialized characters. So getting her always feels a bit like a wasted slot on the team. but Gork definitly has lost the spot as the top hero to have.

Gork is unique, but he is useless really, unless you fashion him as a walking tank
