Hey guys i've tried searching the forum but cannot seem to find a thread on this, maybe because it's too generic of a term.

I'm trying to understand how the defense stat works exactly in relation to damage mitigation. For example, does it reduce it by a % or what exactly.

If there is a site or thread that explains how combat works in more detail that would be helpful too.

thanks!

Damage = attack power * (1 - (defence / (defence + 100)))

So attack power of 50, defense of 20 = 50 * (1 - (20 / 120)) or 41.6666

interesting, that would explain why defense boosts seem less effective than attack power boosts. defense has diminishing returns and attack power doesn't.

thank you!

any idea how attack power factors into area effect weapons like the seblaster? is it just damage on top of their area damage?

Actually, even though the damage reduction has diminishing returns, the effective health of your characters will still increase by 1% for every defense you have (as long as that guy is right). Therefore, defense doesn't have diminishing returns because each point increases the unit's effective health by 1% of its current actual health whether the unit has 10 defense or 1000.

The defense modules give way larger boosts than the attack ones so I love them, but that doesn't mean they are necessarily better because your attack is typically higher than your defense and killing the enemies faster means you take less damage.
