While small in scope and number of participants, the “First Run” OpenDev was a great success, thanks to our amazing community! Many of you were excited to finally try the game, and you were just as excited to let us know what you think. We’ve received a lot of great feedback from you, but before we talk about that, we want to share some interesting stats about the OpenDev.
About a fifth of you made it to the Procedural Factory? Honestly, not bad, given the survey shows many of you found the game a little too difficult. That wasn’t entirely unexpected, as the OpenDev version was intentionally a little more difficult than the first two levels should be in the final game.
The survey and forum discussions also provided a lot of feedback on balance between different heroes, weapons, and turrets, as well as user interface, and we’re thankful for the input on these work in progress subjects. You also shared many thoughts on the balance between action and tactics, which was an important aspect we wanted to test in this OpenDev, so thank you for all your feedback on this! Finally, many of you want to know more about our plans for multiplayer and the metaprogression between runs.
Our designers have been evaluating your feedback and discussing how to best address it, but unfortunately, between the Humankind release anniversary next week and GamesCom the week after (if you’re there, come to our booth to say hi and play some Endless Dungeon), we’ll be quite busy the rest of the month, so won’t be able to share more insights yet. We’ll be back with more info about these subjects later, though, so stay tuned.
