Step by step of the bug

Upgrade CB
Step 2
Wait a bit for the pop up
Step 3
Or complete a hero quest
Step 4
Wait for the pop-up in the next run (usually after a few doors)

Whenever I do something like upgrade CB or do a hero quest the pop-up is delayed, for upgrades to CB it happens a couple of doors after or the wave after, for quests i was getting the pop-ups in the next run.
