Hi all,

Endless legend 2 is flagged to be playable on Windows, do you know if a Mac version will be available in the future ?

If amplitude do not change their mind, I think it will be (like all their game).

Congrats for your upcoming game ;)

truly a sad news.. but i'm hopeful, clearly not a priority and a huge risk to be a sink for resources to create a product for a very small player base. But maybe if there's enough success and enough of a mac player base in the future they'll release it.  Started with endless space on a mac and from that point i fell in love with amplitude. I truly wish they'll find some time and resources to planned it.

Also how many Mac players are here? Should we create a poll just to check? feels like the right place to politely ask and be heard! <3

I'm a Mac player and I will be testing the game's compatibility with Crossover, Whisky and Parallels for my fellow Apples once it releases.

I was really hoping there would be a Mac version, would the costs of porting the game over to Mac not be less than the extra sales generated? Hoping we get a Mac version eventually though!

Glad to see I'm not the only one in the trenches with the Mac. I will, as stated, be doing everything I can to get this program running in Crossover and, if that doesn't work, I'll try Parallels but I'm hoping to avoid that option if at all possible. I'll keep my progress posted on my other thread about it.

Keep in mind it's not just the initial cost of the port, there's the ongoing costs of having to maintain that port too.  I have nothing against Mac's but I think Mac users have a habit of wildly overestimating their sales potential when it comes to games.  Last I checked, Steam survey showed Macs sitting around 1% marketshare.  Then you factor in that 4X isn't exactly the most popular of genres, that further shrinks the market size.  If memory serves, EL1 sold around 400k copies.  If we assume the same 1% marketshare, that's maybe 4k sales to Mac users.  At $60 a pop, that's $240k if all of them pay full price rather than waiting for a sale.  A quick google says that might not even cover the initial porting cost to say nothing of ongoing support.   That makes it a risky investment for them at best.

I've seen other games that did a Mac port, then ended up dropping it because it wasn't worth the extra effort.  I think that resulted in far more community backlash than just not porting in the first place.

Thanks for the detailed reply! Yeah I see when you explain it that the numbers do not really make sense financially at the moment. Maybe if EL2 is as successful as it should be (EL1 is the best 4X ever and really deserves to sell more than the Civ games for example) then hopefully a MacOS version will make economic sense later on. I'm going to start looking at Crossover in the meantime! Thanks again for the reply
