Crashing On Startup

Groo on Steam said I should copy my post there, to here. So here goes.



Issue: Unless I reboot, the game crashes on the Logo Splash Screen, I can tell instantly if it's going to crash however, because when it "Works" it has the Tempest Splash Screen, when it doesn't work, it has the base game Splash Screen.

Things I've Already tried to do- Run in compatibility mode, re-install the game, update my graphics drivers, update windows, update my audio drivers, run sfc/scannow, repaired the game, verify integrity of game cache, run as admin, updated flash, set my Documents folder from read-only to "not" read-only, updated directx, uninstalled and reinstalled directx, re-installed and repaired Microsoft FrameWork, turned off firewall, turned off Virus Protection.

Specs- Windows 10 Home 64Bit (10.0 Build 14393) I'll note I upgraded from Windows 7
Proc: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3930k CPU @ 3.20 GHZ (12 CPUs), ~3.2 GHZ
Memory: 32768Mb RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 12
REsolution 1920X1080
Most of this is pulled from the first screen of DXDiag, with the exception of the Resolution.

Version- Non-issue? As the game never lets me get to the main menu anyway. It's whatever the newest version of the game is.

Basically, there's a problem somewhere between EL and Steam.


This is mentioned in the Outputlog.txt log file:

Did you already try un-installing and re-installing the Steam client altogether?

I have not, if I'm being honest I was really hoping to avoid uninstalling/reinstalling Steam as to the best of my knowledge, that means re-DLing all the games which is a chore and a half, same with doing a hard drive wipe and re-installing Windows, if I have no other choice though, I guess that's what I'll do.

Didn't reinstall steam client ever, but is it possible the games still remain (to not be forced to download again...) ?

A few more things we could try, which are related to Steam:

- Try running both EL AND Steam as "Administrator"
- In Steam, un-check "Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game"
- In Steam, go to the "Languages" tab -> Select "English"
- In Steam, go to the "Updates" tab -> Un-check "Enable Steam Cloud Synchronization" -> Click "OK" -> Repeat and Check the "Enable Steam Cloud Synchronization" -> Click "OK"


EDIT:

- In Steam, try the following command line option: -force-d3d11


EDIT2:

- Try running the .NET Framework Verifier (https://msdnshared.blob.core.windows.net/media/2016/10/netfx_setupverifier_new.zip) - which .NET versions are listed in the drop-down?

For what it's worth literally just ending the steam.exe and reloading it fixed this issue for me.
