[0.7.4] Missing item tier upgrade if unit has previous tier equipped

I noticed this in my game last night. I don't believe this is specific to any particular save game file, but I've attached it anyway. Here are the repro steps:



0. Have access to both Tier 1 and Tier 2 iron rings (Era 2)

1. Edit a unit.

2. Equip Tier 1 iron ring in an accessory slot.

3. Apply.

4. Edit the same unit.

5. Try to find Tier 2 iron ring in the available items.

6. In my case it was not visible. The only way to find it was to unequip the ring --> Apply --> Edit again and it is now visible.



This bug seems to occur at all eras and for all item types. In one case the workaround failed to work but it seems ok. This obviously isn't a super critical issue since it has a workaround, but it is something that comes up fairly frequently for those that do a lot of unit design upgrades at each era/tech level.

What is worse that, if you equipped a quest item on a hero, you can update the other equipment, buy the stuff, leave the screen and then see (after checking) that the upgrade didn't happen and that, in fact, you even did not have to pay. Quest item handling is bugged, also.

In my game tonight I noticed how I think they intend it to work. I believe with accessories the goal is you can't wear two different tiers of the same type. For example, they try to restrict you from wearing tier1 iron neck and tier2 iron neck at the same time. So when you have one equipped, the other tiers for that type don't show as available. Makes sense from a gameplay standpoint, but I think it would be better if they just greyed out the tiers and had a message that reflected that only one of that type can be worn at a time rather than just not show them and have no clue as to why.



So in tonight's game, unequipping that item would reveal the other tiers unlike last night where unequipping it would not reveal other tiers until you applied the change and re-edited the unit.



I also noticed in the game that unequipping one slot would often times unequip other slots. Eg. Unequipping accessory slot1, would cause accessory slot2 to be unequipped as well. I thought that might have been some sort of intended behavior until I noticed that unequipping my shield would unequip my chest at random too.

I saw the same behavior. Has someone checked whether unequipping and then reequipping the same stuff (like, QUEST items) incurs costs?
