64bit doesn't work :(

Hi all, as title - I can't run the 64 bit version. I can run the 32 bit version but it's fairly slow, and the community patch doesn't work on the 32 bit AFAIK :( I also don't see any clues in the output log as to what's going wrong.

Description of the problem:

  • When I open EL from steam I am shown the amplitude logo, then the splash screen (which says Symbiosis for me), then a crash without error message. When I try with the opengl flag EL crashes immediately and gives me a message that it has generated the diagnostic html info.

System description

  • Operating Systems: Tried Windows 10 (latest?) and Arch Linux (via Proton). Same error on both operating systems.
  • Video card: tried both Iris integrated graphics and NVIDIA Geforce 1070, same issue.
  • Specs -
    • 2021 Dell XPS 13 laptop
    • 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1185G
    • NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1070 (eGPU)
  • Game Version - Latest from steam
  • Registry.xml - I delete it and let it generate the default

I have tried:

  1. Uninstalled and reinstalled the game from Steam

  2. Tried forcing opengl (when I do this I get a different crash and popup and the Diagnostics html file. It's available below)
  3. Disabling Steam in-game overlay
  4. Disabling all mods
  5. Reinstall/update dotnet
  6. Starting with the recommended launch flags (-useembedded, etc)
Logs:
Thank you for the help

EDIT: I can't figure out how to get email notifications if someone responds :( I'm 'following' the thread, is there something simple I'm missing?

As long as you didn't write anything about updateing your graphics driver, perhaps it's worth a try -> Latest graphics driver

In case of Windows 10 version (as long as you don't seem to know), you could check it out by right mouse click on windows start symbol (to the lower left corner on your desktop) -> choose search -> enter:

winver

and execute. My current version, i.e., is build 2004 (19041.985).

As long as you write about testing to switch between onboard- and your Geforce card, you did follow these steps?

"Intel HD Graphics used instead of nVIDIA card

Bad performances with a nVIDIA card

  • Please verify if your monitor is plugged into the GPU and not the default slot of the motherboard.
  • Go to the nVIDIA control panel.
  • Then go to “Manage 3D Settings”, “Program Settings”.
  • Look for or add “Endless Legend” on the drop-list and tell nVIDIA to use the high performance graphics processor instead of the on-board graphics card."

As long as you did try to "play around" with launch options, I'd like to offer two more:

-force-d3d11

-popupwindow

Edit: Also worth a shot, to (re-) install NET. Framework

Did you give admin rights to your Steam.exe and Endless Legend.exe files, yet? To do so, right mouse click on file, go to compatibility tab and add admin rights.

I am getting this exact problem. The game was running fine for me then I upgraded to a new motherboard and CPU, now it crashes after splash screen like you mention. Possible hardware / driver issue?

Did you reinstall Windows with that upgrade or swap the components and boot it up as is?

Are any other games or software acting up or is it only EL?

Would like to rule out general issues first, then move on to troubleshooting EL.  Although you can Verify Cache in Steam and that might be enough to fix it, only takes a minute so I always start there when games break.
