Unplayable due to jerky stuttering map scrolling

I am running the latest Steam version (V1.2.2 S3).

I have noticed some poor performance around map edge scrolling from the very first release of the game, but it seems to have been aggravated a lot by the last few patches.

I am running a i7-2600k with SLI GX 970. I have perfectly seamless scrolling in Civ 5 and Shogun 2, at highest possible settings. My computer is well set up for gaming and runs the new Witcher 3 at Ultra with Hairworks and AA with absolutely no slow downs or stutters.

The stuttering does not seem too bad when first starting a game, but rapidly becomes worse as more map features are revealed.

I have tried turning performance all the way down and disabling everything I can think of. Turning off antivirus has no effect. The performance is very jerky and is the same whether using the arrow key or mouse edge to control the scrolling. Turning v-sync off and on has no effect. Lower resolution has no effect. Minimum details (I think its called Fastest) has no effect.

By turn 150 my game performance is so bad I have decided to give up on this game for the time being.

Any plans to bring the performance back into a reasonable state? Too bad this is a great game and right now Amplitude is definitely off my list.....

I was disturbed by this so I finally gave up and uninstalled the game completely.

When I reinstalled the performance was completely fixed, no issues at all now. I even increased the resolution to 4K and there is no hesitation or stuttering of any kind.

I'm not sure if this indicates a problem with the way Steam applies patches to the game or not.

Curious to see if at any point you had tried disabling the SLI and play on only one 970? Purely academic question since you managed to solve your issue, but in many other games I've played or helped on, SLIs could be the source of so much trouble... smiley: frown
