Hey all. I recently built a new computer so that I could start playing newer/better games that I've been putting off for years. I finally got up and running, did the first few bouts of windows updates, and then started on games. This game ran fine for about 3-4 hours (my first couple of times playing). Then, last night, my computer upgraded to windows 8.1, and as far as I know, that's the only thing that's changed since I last played. Now when I try to play the game it loads up just fine, but from the time I hit the menu screen to when I close out it runs at around 5 fps, takes several seconds to recognize that I'm hovering my mouse over any of the menu button, and when I alt+tab out it shows that the game is taking up an average of 96% of my CPU power, which it shouldn't and wasn't before I made the switch to 8.1. Oddly enough, it seems to register the movements of my mouse just fine. Has anyone else had these problems?

I've tried several things. I've attempted to update my drivers (all up to date). I've tried running the game in compatibility mode for windows 7 & 8 (nothing). I've messed with pretty much all of the settings in game that I can get to (no real help). And I've reinstalled the game (no effect).

I've got a i5 quad core 3.2ghz processor, a Radeon R9 390 graphics card, 8 gigs of ram, and, as I said, I'm now running an up to date version of windows 8.1. If anyone has any other ideas or needs more information let me know. I was having a lot of fun with the game, felt like I was just starting to get a handle on things and really sink my teeth into it, and then this happened and made it completely unplayable. Thanks.

What is your actual internet connection speed (mbit/s) ?! I did everything like you and got crazy. Finally i turned off and turned on again my modem/router (it's always on normally) and speed was 6 to 7 times faster. Perhaps you still did try it ? And it would be useful to check, if you got the 64 bit version Endless Legend activated (Steam -> right click on game -> options -> betas -> deactivated) ?

Whatever, good luck !
