How do I change my player name?

I see that the game is using my Steam profile name... which exists because Steam says you have to have a profile but has a name that really doesn't fit into the game at all. I don't want to use my steam profile name in games. How can I set the name to be something else?

You can always change your steam profile name. If there is any other way to modify the in-game name, I would like to know it too.

Unfortunately, that's not an option because that also changes your name on the forums and comments and reviews and friends lists. I only want to change my name in this one game, not everywhere.
