Can't Run EL in Win 10

Yesterday (and for a month or two), I could run Endless Legend under Windows 8.1 with no issues. Then I decided to install Windows 10. Now I can get only as far as the Amplitude flash screen.

A message appears in the lower right corner of the monitor: "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered. Display driver Intel HD Graphics Driver for Windows 8(R) stopped responding and has successfully recovered." (Note it says Windows 8, although I updated the Intel graphics driver after installing Windows 10.) This message repeats twice more, then a new one appears: "Application has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware." The flash screen remains and nothing more happens.

I have tried several of the solutions recommended on this forum, including switching to the 32-bit version, running in both Windows 7 and 8 compatibility modes, changing command line options, and rerunning "redistributables." Nothing seems to help.

Is there any hope, short of rolling back Windows or waiting for Intel to issue new drivers? My computer includes Intel 5500 graphics, plus a Radeon R7 M265 card.

plus a Radeon R7 M265 card.

Have you tried updating the AMD drivers and forcing that card to run EL through the control panel?

It took me a while to figure out how to do that, but it seems to be working. Thanks a lot, and cross your fingers.

Probably doable through AMD's Catalyst Control Center, that should come with your card's drivers. smiley: smile

Don't worry, that happens to all of us, all the time, even inside the studio. We're just lugging gaming or programming or game design lingo at one another and hoping the other knows what the hell we're on about. smiley: biggrin

Have you managed to force the use of the AMD card?
