So I just downloaded and fired up the game for first time...on Steam



The game loads up at the wrong resolution and aspect ratio for my machine

and in windowed mode....so I see the task bar and my desktop behind it as the intro begins

...I push escape; get to the main menu and then directly to options; reset resolution, then quit



Great start!!



There are also multiple Steam overlay notifications and popups about activation keys which I am told will be required to play the game



All of this means I have spent my first several load ups fixing things so that I can just view the introductory video

which I have not viewed yet because I still have to figure out how to get rid of all the Steam overlays that obstruct and spoil the intro



There is a small popup which says if I press shift + tab it will go away....but it doesn't go away

pressing shift + tab brings up a full screen overlay that completely blocks the game intro



This of course completely spoils the initial effect of the game

having to struggle through several reloads just to get it to sit right on my screen

so I can watch the intro



Not a good start



Am I going to need to enter multiple keys to play?

Is this some kind of DRM?

It's just the standard Steam stuff. Hit Shift-Tab twice to make the popup go away. You don't need to enter any keys.

The issues I had with the resolution and aspect ratio and windowed mode are nothing to do with Steam

They are set by the developer

They meant that I could not view the intro to the game until I had adjusted the options and Esc quitted a couple of times

Aysling was answering your question regarding keys. Most 3rd party games will show keys upon booting, until you deactivate the notification.



I know you managed to fix your issue, but I'd be curious to know what kind of computer you were playing with, Windows setup et al.

I have Windows 7 64 bit; my desktop res is 1280 x 1024; i3-4170 3.7 GHz; GTX 750 Ti



Are the keys to do with Amplitude or Steam?



I was disheartened by having to go to so much trouble just to view the intro to the game

I know and expect to have to make adjustments in the options of most games to get my preferences

I have no issues with that

but I do like to be able to view the intro and get to the main menu of a new game when I load it up first time

having to use Esc to get to main menu and then quit (a couple of times) just to view the intro fullscreen is not ideal

you buy the game and then have to jump over several hurdles just to view the intro and get to the main menu

Were you trying to view the splash screens? I don't understand how it took multiple reboots to view the intro...



Start 1: go to options, set proper resolution.

Start 2: you can now see the intro



What else did you have to do?

Keys and overlay are to do with steam, check the box that says you don't want to see them again and they won't come back.
