Game fails to generate first world

My issue seems to be the same as Machar1us in this thread. There are two similar errors, from Buck Rogers Jr. and Nightangel, which list "Iterator94.M" rather than "IteratorA3.MoveNext" in the last line.

This is not the problem directly addressed in that thread, as the game has never successfully started, so there is no world data to duplicate. I assume that's why the posts in that thread were never addressed.

I have verified the integrity of the game cache and uninstalled/reinstalled the game.

Every time I launch the game, through steam, from the directory it's stored in directly, or from the desktop shortcut, it goes to the "Performing first time setup" steam window, and installs the .net 4.5.1 framework.

Haven't been able to play it since I bought it, so there are no save files to upload. It seems to be failing to generate the first world, and the tutorial also fails to play, kicking me back to the main menu. The error report is as follows:

NotImplementedException: The game creation process has failed.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

GameClientState_LaunchGame.GameService_CreateGameComplete (System.Object sender, Amplitude.Unity.Game.CreateGameCompleteEventArgs e)

Amplitude.Unity.Game.GameManager.OnCreateGameComplete (Amplitude.Unity.Game.CreateGameCompleteEventArgs e)

Amplitude.Unity.Game.GameManager.CreateGameAsync_CoroutineExceptionHandler (System.Object sender, Amplitude.CoroutineExceptionEventArgs args)

Amplitude.Coroutine+c__IteratorA3.MoveNext ()

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

V1.3.5 S3 (64-bit)

This appears in the red error window, behind that window there is a separate error:

The game creation has failed. (Argument cannot be null.

Parameter name: archive).

Below/attached is a snip of the actual screen displayed, as well as the zipped Diagnostics and output_log.txt files (zipped together into a single attachment).

System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Windows mono path not found: D:\games\SteamLibrary\steamapps\mono\mono\mini\mono.exe

Do you have any special characters inside your Windows User Account name ? (check this : http://forums.amplitude-studios.com/showthread.php?495-SOLVED-End-of-turn-error-ArgumentException-Illegal-characters-in-path)

Do you have an admin account registered on your machine ? Does your account have administrative privileges ?

Finally, if none of the above help ... Did you try reinstalling Steam ? (I know, it's not nice ...)

Hello Phydeaux,

I also suggest you to look at this thread where you might find some other workaround that could help you.

/#/endless-legend/forum/13-tech-support/thread/5336-workaround-crash-at-world-generation-identical-world-generation

Otherwise we will also have a look at your files if something shows up there.

[edit] After a quick look it seems only the output.log is in the .zip file.

However we can see an issue with a geometry file not created and then not loaded.

I will recommand you to have a closer look at your firewall to ensure Endless Legend files have unlimited access, especially the WorldGeneratorContext (or "amplitude.worldgenerator.exe").

A quick question too.

When you launch the tutorial (which is a save) do you have the exact same error?

I tried the workarounds from that thread without any real success, including setting the game to run as administrator, verifying, and then reinstalling the game through steam. Weirdly, every time I launch the game, it goes through Steam first time setup.

I'll re-upload the dxdiag. There are no save files, since I've never gotten as far as playing the game.

When I launch the tutorial, I get no error message, it goes from

to

back to the main menu

This has happened every time I attempt to launch the tutorial, at no point has it ever gotten as far as loading a map.

Hello Phydeaux,

Thanks a lot for the extended answer.

What we will need most is the Diagnostics.html. The one generated in the following file right after you got the error (trying to launch tutorial or a game).

- [PC] [Documentsdir]/Endless Legend/Temporary Files/Diagnostics*.html

- [MAC] Diagnostics.*.html - Library/Application Support/EndlessLegend/Temporary Files/

Here are 4 diagnostics files and the world generator configuration xml file.

Diagnostics Files and WorldGeneratorConfiguration.rar
