Hello Everyone. Been doing a little research on the game and loving what I've been finding. But my main concern is multiplayer.

Every strategy game, at a certain point becomes a bore when you have the AI figured out. So I'm really looking for a 4x game with a solid multiplayer community. Did some browsing on the forum, found the Tuesday Night crew, but not a lot of threads on multiplayer in general.

So before I buy the game and fall in love with it (which I no doubt will based on all I've seen) what can I expect from multiplayer?

Thank in advance everyone for your input.

PS: Never got into Civ5 multiplayer. Was really looking forward to Civ:BE, but that seem like a big disappointment and currently Civ5 already has 2x number of player on steam then BE.

Hello,

Amplitude has done a good job adapting Endless Legend for multiplayer. Features like Simultaneous turns, integrated timers, drop in play and streamlined combat all help the experience. IMO, EL is as good as it gets for 4X multiplayer.

That said, this is a 4X game and it takes a while to play. The vanilla game takes a few hours to play on Fast settings and there can be some turns where you are waiting for others to finish. I would avoid public games on Normal speed.

I wrote a post with some tips -> /#/endless-legend/forum/14-multiplayers/thread/5460-tips-for-enjoying-endless-legend-multiplayer.

I've also put together a mod to further streamline the MP game (it's fun in single player too)

Feel free to look me up if you want to play!

Thank you for the reply. I actually bought the game last night and got about 6 hours in. Very pleased with it. I don't remember the last time I played a game I was truly excited about. It is truly a breath of fresh air in a sea of disappointment lately.

As far as the multiplayer, I wasn't looking for anything shortly then 3-4 hours for a 4x game and I did read your post! smiley: stickouttongue

I'll hopefully be joining you guys soon, but I'll need a couple of campaigns under my belt before I do. Lost my first game on Hard difficulty at around turn 100. Started my second one on hard again and its looking more promising. I'm guessing a prerequisite for playing muliplayer against you chaps should be a victory playing Endless difficulty?

Endless Legend is a great game, its however pretty unfriendly to coop play. There is no way to formally create teams before or in the game. The best you can do is just agree not to attack each other but you can't create team vs team gameplay and thats the biggest drawback. While trying to play coop with a friend his main quest line and mine both eventually told us the only way to advance our quests was to capture a city belonging to each other. Beyond the fact that the "win screen" isn't shared or even a function of us both contributing to the same end goal, the game was actively telling us to fight each other or be unable to progress our story line any further. This was the point where my friend stopped playing the game since if we can't coop there isn't any point playing together.

I'm not too concerned with Co-Op, though it would be nice. I have over 20 hours clocked in now, and making my way up to impossible difficulty, and like most aspects of the game, with the exception of the AI. They seem to be sticking with tier one starting units which gets kind of bland. But that was expected, hence why my ultimate interest in multiplayer.

Please join the Steam Group: Endless Legend No Quitters. A nice place to organize games among no quitters, in the chat there. If there could be a few more of us.

I was most definitely going to be joining, just wanted to get a little better at the game first. But I'll join now, I too would like to see it grow.

Oh wait, I joined the one headed by Propbuddha. I honestly don't think we have enough interest in the game at this point for two groups. Have you considering joining the existing one?
