Has anyone managed to finish a multiplayer game?

There were 6 out of sync errors that booted us to lobby. 1 player left during that.

When the host was defeated and left we got booted into lobby again instead of automatically switching to another player as the host. Managed to reestablish the game at that point (but lost another player).

And then it was down to just me and another player, his connection got disrupted and it became single player online.

A few turns later the game had a fatal exception, I chose continue and 2 turns later it got stuck on "processing turn" for 10 minutes before I gave up.

Was this an isolated experience, or is every online game gonna be a horror of OOS errors?

Yes, dozens. Going back to lobby is normal behavior when the host drops. Look for high-ping players. They usually cause OOS problems.

Be reasonable on your settings, keep the map on the small side and don't play 8 player games, unless you have 8 reliable players.

If you consistently have issues as host, it's probably something with your internet/computer that the game doesn't like.

Finally, Enable "Dump mode Text" in the settings and dump reports and upload to Tech Support for Amplitude to look at.

It isn't "normal". it might be somewhat common-ish. But well programmed games don't do it.

This is especially egregious here because the host can be defeated before the game is over. meaning everyone else gets dumped back into the main menu

Seamless host migration is a great thing to have, but isn't that common of a feature in P2P games. In EL, if the host leaves, you do not get dumped to the main menu, but to the lobby and everyone in the game should be present. All you have to do is ready up and the game restarts at the turn it left off. Not really that big of a deal...

If you are getting dumped to the main menu, that's a bug.

The OOS errors can definitely be annoying though.

why even have that extra step though?

I am not asking for it to be instant. But if instead of going tot he lobby, clicking ready, and starting over, it can skip that step and just assume everyone remained on their current faction and just go straight to the loading page for the game

Apparently it was just whom I was playing with. managed to get another game going and that one had no OOS.

just that when I won the host left before I officially won and I missed out on the achievement for winning.

A good advice is to make sure all run the game in 32-bit. Has reduced the amount of errors and OOS quite dramatically in my experience. Especially I have a feeling that some Vaulter missions trigger alot of error and OOS with 64-bit host or player, and I'm sure that counts for alot of other things in the game as well.
