Mod Request: Hero Classes

Hi all, 


I've just started playing Endless Legend and am absolutely loving it! My only quarrel with the game is that there is only one class of hero for each faction (all Morgawr heroes are support, all Cultist heroes are infantry, etc.)


It'd be great if someone with a little more skill and know-how than me could make a mod to change one hero from each faction into a different class (leaving the starting one the same) or could direct me to a mod that does this.

Unfortunately I don't have much experience modding, so I can't help you there. But I like this idea, it would bring a bit more depth to the game. Hopefully someone with more experience than I notices this!

With a bit of tinkering, I found the files specifying unit class. Although, you can't change their class with a flip of the switch, the possibility is still there. I'll keep working on it, and let you know if I finish a workable mod.


Endless Legend\Public\SimulationUnitBodyDefinitions.xml

Defines each "type" for unit in the game, including heroes, the ability for melee attacks, and various equips. I'm attempting to create a new type for each faction. For example, instead of just "UnitBodyBrokenLordsHero", I'll have "UnitBodyBrokenLordsHeroInfantry" and "UnitBodyBrokenLordsHeroRanged"

UnitProfiles[Hero] and UnitProfileNames[Hero] may also be useful if you are adding or changing existing heroes.



Again, I'm fairly new with modding, so apologies if I couldn't be of more assistance.

Heyheyhey that's wicked. Thanks for taking on the cause mate, I appreciate it. I'm excited to see other races not have to hire out merc's, doesn't make sense for the Necrophages to have anyone other than their own imo.


As another note, is it possible to have all infantry weapons equipped by all heroes? I've noticed a Cultist hero can't equip greatswords/axes and was wondering how hard that'd be to implement. In theory it'd just be putting the animation onto the skeleton and changing each race to see each weapon but that might be more complicated than it sounds.
