I've been able to upload a mod with lots of heroes, but I don't know how to upload the thumbnails image into the mod. Any help?

Having the same issue.
Searching the forums shows up this one thread:

Though I appear to be simple, because I can't even get that to work. Maybe my image has the wrong dimensions.

Nah, I'm on the same boat. Tried with a 150x150 png in 8, 16 and 24 bit with no luck (using the code tag at the same level of description).

An example of how to do this can be found in the map creation tutorial:

For me, the issue seemed to be in the naming. I think it was searching for "Thumbnail.png.png". Anyway, it works now.
