I'm having trouble working out how to write the root xml for my new mod.  How exactly am I supposed to work out what I have to define?  The example file linked to in the pinned tutorial pdf seems to go with a "this covers everything" approach, which at least saves me worrying about structure or syntax, but doesn't give me much idea as to what I should remove and what I should add in to the file to suit my mod.

I've tried searching via Google, but haven't found the magic keywords.  Can anyone link to a more descriptive guide to writing this xml?

I don't seem to be able to edit my post, so I'll just say that I seem to have managed to get it to work satisfactorily.  At least for now.
