I'm a Korean who loves this game, and the previous Endless Space. Amplitude's world of Dust smiley: dust , all the anomalies that bring it to life, and extremely distict faction traits that create a very unique playstyle really pulls me more than any other strategy game ever has.

I want more players from my country to play this, but sadly there are no Korean translations for this game. Is it possible for me to create a Korean tranlation mod for this game? Is it possible to create translations for languages that are not Alphabet based?

It is possible but warning, it is one heck of a work and with heck of a work, I mean that it will take dozens of hours if not more and most of it is quite boring.

Still ready to do it?

In your Endless Legend folder has subfolder called Public under that is Localization. (\SteamApps\common\Endless Legend\Public\Localization)

Make new folder to Localization and name it Korea or something and then copy both files from english folder there.

After that starts annoying and boring work.

You need to open both of those files with Notepad++ and translate everything what is written with blacktext. (as in, is between <> these)

Still warning, it is close to 12 000-13 000 lines of text and every black text has to be translated or it looks funny.

You should also test to see if the Korean font is supported. By default, it shouldn't be, as is the case with other Amplitude games, as well as other games in general. Most of them have support only for Italic and Germanic languages (French, English, German, Spanish, etc.), and sometimes Slavic (Russian, Polish, etc.).

And yes, the files are huge, and dozens or hundreds of new lines are added with every update of the game, so you will need to save all versions of the language files if you are to update the translation as well.

Thank you for the replies! I see that it'll take me an extreme amount of time, but I'll still try smiley: smile

But as for the Korean font I have no idea. Think i'll have to look into that too.

Ok. I did tranlate a few line in the "EF_Localization_Assets_Locales.xml", but now it won't open in IE(which it previously did.) This makes me worried as I think it means that the code does not understand Korean.

I'm pretty sure that i did not touch on anything that is code related. Maybe Korean is just not compatable with EL?

If you edited only what was between the "more-than" (>) and "less-than" (<) brackets, you should be fine. Ex: Name="%TechnologyExpansionDisapprovalReduction3Title">Gladiatorial Games. You should only translate "Gladiatorial Games", all else remains the same. From previous experiences, the game should still open, even if it doesn't recognize the Korean symbols, showing a blank space instead of the original string.
