Here's a couple requests for features I'd like to see to help make modding easier for the modders and players:

Steam Workshop

I know there's integration work to do, but using Steam Workshop to host mods solves many problems (hosting, installation, versioning) and provides a showcase for modders and for Endless Legend as a moddable game. Please consider integrating

Versions

As of the initial release, theres no way to specify what version your mod is as well as what version(s) of Endless Legend the mod is built on/compatible with. This can lead to a lot of issues. Please implement.

Auto-Loading with Saves

If I load a Save Game that uses a mod, it would be nice if those mods were loaded automatically. PS - The mod does not display in the save game list, even though there is a column for it.

Replacing Entire Files

This is possible, see Tigregalis's and Pikou's posts below

Thanks for your attention.

Totally agree with all the points.

Except the last one, i don't really understand what do you want.

You can "replace" the entire file. Just copy it with all the contents, paste it into your mod witht the right link as usual, and all the contents of your copied file will replace all the contents of the original file... so...

That doesn't work because, while you are replacing all of the elements, you still need to have all of them. So all we can do is add and replace, we can't remove.

You can "remove" a SimulationDescriptor (for example) by leaving it empty. e.g. removing all winter effects except movement reduction

Obviously you would have to remove any references to these SimulationDescriptors in all other XML files.

It ain't pretty, but it should work.

This may be able to be done, I just don't know how to do it. Ability to replace an entire file with another, rather than merging.

Thanks for your attention.

As usual, thanks a lot for your feedback!

We will keep this in mind for further possible improvement.

About "Replacing Entire Files" I'm sorry I did not make that clear in the modding tutorial pdf but this is already possible.

There is a line at the very beginning of the reference file:

By default it is on "Conversion" Type because it is easier to manage for beginners.

But you can chose a "Standalone" Type which will replace the in-game file and not merge. Just be very careful to have all the required info in those file you replace.

I just made an update of the modding tutorial file but I will surely add this last info in the next one.

Cheers!
