How to Remove a Tech

If I wanted to remove a tech from the game how would I do it. I know I can add one and change existing ones but not sure how to remove one.

Hello,

To add one is just like to remove one.

You just need to erase the references from the same xml files.

But if you are using a Conversion mod, won't the originals appear?

Yes indeed.

That is one of the reason why there is another Type of mod.

From the modding tutorial:

There is another Type="Standalone" that will replace the files in the game by the new files you created.

You have to be very careful with this Type by not forgetting any requirements from any connection otherwise it won’t launch.



If you still encounter some issue when trying to erase a techno please do not hesitate to inform us smiley: smile



Otherwise another solution could be to place the technology as "hidden" (but it won't disable its use by the AI).



Example for the settler techno:

After talking with Meedoc it seems that it is easily possible with a conversion mod.

Just add the following lines to the technology in DepartmentOfScience+Constructibles[Era1Technology].xml
