[Mod][WIP] KIN0025's traits

This mod has a number of different effects. It is very WIP, may/will break saves and most of the localization was broken on the guardians update and hasn't been fixed. In now way does this represent a finished product. This is essentially tweaks to the game that affect it according to my personal preference. The AI does not know how to use most of the content for now (I will get around to adding that), and this is targeted at multiplayer games. As I mainly play drakkens or mezari, most of the content is focused around them, but is applicable to all factions.

Traits Added:

Unit Traits:

A full selection of unit traits have been added. These units are available from other factions, and cost 10 points each in the custom faction editor. Only one custom unit per tier is selectable, and units cost 5 of a strategic resource relevant to their tier level

Strategic Power:

Vaulters/Mezari/Drazari exclusive, this trait is supposed to double income of strategic resources, and halve that of the affinity resource.

Legal System:

The legal system is a building that removes the negative approval from expansion disapproval. The cost of it scales with the number of cities, and is again, subject to balance. Not AI supported, and unlocked via faction trait.

Diplomacy Trait:

Adds diplomacy actions for peace at 5x the cost, and alliance at 10x at the start of the game. When the necessary technology is researched, the cost will drop down to normal levels. Is supposed to activate only when a faction trait is applied. Again, not AI supported, however they will respond correctly, just not offer. Does not affect the unlock of drakken force peace/force alliance.

Other changes:

City Trade:

Cities can be traded when in an alliance.

New faction:

Called the Drazari, this faction is a mix of vaulter tech and progression, but with drakken aesthetics and units. Unit Icons are broken, but the faction seems to work fine, even with AI (somehow, as no support has been added).

Pawn modification:

Idea taken from Kingsguard's EME increases the visible unit count on armies.

Technology Changes:

Makes all tiers of weapon tech research able. Needs a major ui positioning change, so if anyone has ideas for locations of techs, feel free to suggest them.

World Generation options:

Includes support for the world generator mod here. Just paste the folders from inside that mod over this one, without replacing files.

Faction points:

Increases available points to spend on custom factions to 200.



Current Bugs:


AI Support for Weapon techs and Custom units not added

Drazari units have broken icons, and the unlock tech icons are also broken.

Some localizations may be missing, as well as GUI elements.

Your mod seems already quite at an advanced stage smiley: smile

I will gladly add it to the Mod Shopping Mall as soon as you tell me it is not "wip" anymore (or at least usable).

I was wondering why the techs for the drazari units, and the drazari units themselves have different filenames for images than the GUI element I had assigned.

Hello kin0025,

There was some mistakes in your files.

Some info were written 2 times (which was not necessary), like the affinity or technologydefinitiondrazariunit3.

Same for some localization keys.



Most important, some GuiElements were not changed (unitdesigns + bodydefinitions).

In FactionTrait[Major].xml you were pointing to the wrong unit bodies which explains the wrong pictures.



I've made some corrections in your mod in order for you to see the difference.

You will have to investigate why loc keys for unit2 and 3 are not correct though.

Some of the duplicates were fixed in my own version, but it seems I missed some, thank you for pointing them out. The issue is not getting the custom pictures, I don't want them. Instead I am referencing the Drakkens localizations and images so that the units are essentially the same as the Drakken units, but useable as Drazari, as Drakken units are restricted to AffinityDrakken. The issue is that when I added the Drazari units, still referencing the the drakken images, the images, when they loaded, were of the placeholder images, even though they are not reference in the GUI files.

In Version 1.1.1, I have not changed the GUI references to files, but they still load from the placeholder images.

Sorry for not understanding that you wanted the Drakkens pictures instead of custom ones...

Ok so in your GuiElements[BodyDefinitions] and [Technology] there are multiple reference to Drazari units pictures instead of Drakkens ones.

That should do the trick.
