Looking for help on modding hero upkeep

I just finished my first game of EL the other day, and I absolutely LOVED it. I've also looked online and modded a few things to make my game more enjoyable, but there is one thing that eludes me.

In my game, I had 3 heroes, and I noticed how much dust they were taking as upkeep. In a fairly short game, 3 of them were taking almost a quarter of my income! Given how powerful and valuable heroes are (especially in light of my craving to power level them and send them to where they'll gain the most exp), I can see this causing problems. I've even heard that they can cost thousands of dust per turn.

Does anyone know where the file in question is to modify hero upkeep? I've been trying all morning, but I just can't seem to find it. Military upkeep was easy enough, but that doesn't effect heroes. I'm also interested in doing this for Endless Space since I have similar power leveling habits there.

HI, found this at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Endless Legend\Public\Simulation\TradableCategoryDefinitions.xml :

7

1.2

200

0.5

0.15

0.5

THis seems to affect the hero's price... but I've not tested it...

There is this field here , that is suspicious:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Endless Legend\Public\Simulation\SimulationDescriptors[UnitProfile].xml

I haven't tried to change anything regard these, however...

Hello,

TradableCategoryDefinition is just to affect the prices on the market. It won't help you there.

You should indeed look at SimulationDescriptors[UnitProfile].xml

The part below seems to be the way the hero upkeep is calculated:

If you don't succeed in your changes I will try to give you a more concrete example.

Cheers,

oh wow, the associate producer of amplitude! Thank you very much for answering my question! Truth be told, I managed to work out the solution on unit profile myself, but I have NO idea what the exact math is. Something to do with using a hero's level as a base in the equation, then adding skill points, and then multiplying it by an unknown amount? I tried to figure this out, but I managed to bash my way through to get what I wanted just by deleting lines, so problem solved.

Also....I just want to take a second to say CURSE YOU!! do you realize how much time I've spent in "one more turn" hell because this game is so good!? Sid Meier is crying right now because Endless Legend just DESTROYED Civilization, and then Endless Space brought utter ruination to Beyond Earth in comparison. Part of me wants to beg you to continue the Endless series because I'll buy every game you make, but part of me wants to beg you not to because there's a good chance I might forget to eat and die whilst playing it.

I'm glad you got your problem solved.

Thanks a lot for the kind words about our game too.

It is always a pleasure to know how much people appreciate our work.

But don't forget to eat, we will need your feedback and your help for what is to come smiley: wink
