making a district for ruins/ temples ect, and one for villages

just wondering if anyone has any idea if it would be possible to make a new city district type building that could be built only on ruins or pacified villages?

I was thinking some type of custom faction trait to enable, or maybe tie it to the great builders trait.

I've been working on something similar for a little while; districts that can only be placed on certain locations. I was thinking more of a 'garden district' or 'mining town' that could be placed on anomalies or resource deposits.



From what I discovered it might be possible to define new districts. However, the mapping (3d models) of them are a bit wiggly. Getting the simulation to accept them is easy enough, and they'll have the effect you want, but it's hard to tell them apart from anything else.



But I don't know if it's possible to build on ruins or villages. They have a specific 'don't build on me' flag that I haven't found yet. Also they're needed for quests and stuff.

Great stuff, i'm thinking about too, but I didn't look really how to do this.

I was thinking about a tech giving a "small district" : the district take only 1 tile instead of 3, but could be build with no requirement. Or maybe be build anywhere in country.



I've find a property "unstoppable" in some file, saying an unit can't stop on this tile. I don't know if it could help. More relative on army movement.

Maybe the limitations about building district is in a Tile descriptor file somewhere. Or maybe it's more hardcoded so probably not moddable.

hmm, what about something along the lines of cargo docks, but more geared towards food instead. might also help level up the docks, as it is rare to get one your able to make level 2, and i don't think i have managed to get a level 3 one yet.

or a floating quarters, that doesn't do more than base tile production but expands exploitation along water?
