Is it possible to mod the camera height (zoom level) where the map switches from the detailed map to the simple map?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

It is something hard-coded and it will be difficult to give access to it.

I will ask the developers to confirm but I doubt it.

Thanks. It'd make EL's nice graphics even better as I'd see them much more often over the course of a game.

Personally, I'd like to see the map transformation available via hotkey/UI button toggle.

It's pretty slick as implemented, but would be more useful if you could call it on demand (not just by camera height). I often find myself "zoom fighting" when I want to see the simple map at lower elevations.

The zoom-fight is real. I think I remember once reading a response from a staff member saying they'd feel sad if their hand-drawn style map would never be used. But here's what would happen for me if they improved the Overlays and allowed manual toggle: I'd switch to the drawn mapstyle every time I need to make an important decision involving the terrain, then switch back after.

The hand drawn map is a beauty, for sure. And it's great for locating anomalies and seeing ridge outlines more clearly.

The drawback to tying it to zoom level is that it's utility is limited a bit by screen size. I play windowed often and that's particularly where I'd like to be able to get little closer with the simple map. I suppose if such a control were possible, it would have to be a 3-way toggle... default, always on, always off. Though having it off when zoomed far out would probably introduce a performance hit.
