Simple Mod to Remove Precomputed Targets

This is all guesswork. This mod is not really supported and won't be uploaded to the Steam Workshop any time soon. If you want to play with it and see how it feels, please feel free to do so. Feedback on what you observe is always appreciated.



At the start of each round, if units are set to offense, they will precompute their targets (ie all those red arrows). This allows the player to see what's going to happen. Unfortunately, this also hinders the AI, because it's now committed to attacking those targets even if better opportunities present themselves throughout the round. By removing the precomputing of targets, the AI now makes decisions as each unit's turn in the round comes up.



This is just a simple extension mod (with a minor change) that removes the precomputing of targets. It seems to improve the AI a little bit.



Edit: After playing with it for a few minutes, I should mention that this won't magically solve all your AI issues; a big part of the unit behaviors is still being decided by the targeting weights.
