With no disrespect for lily's great work, sometimes it just because you can, and out of curiosity of seeing what the impact would be.

Most changes have a deeper effect on the "metagame", though. Look at all of the Starcarft 2 balance changes. The implications are HUGE, because of the high number of competitive matches played by people who know how to best exploit the strengths of their race.

And now compare Starcraft 2's three races against EL's many more ...

The mod is very different from the base game at this point, so it's hard to use the base game as a frame of reference for anything I'm doing at the moment.

Oh, no. Every change that I make has a very clear reasoning behind it. There was a moment for each change where I said, "I really want this to be different because it's not that fun for me as-is." It's all very deliberate and there's a clear design goal.



I like a lot of Endless Legend, and especially the form and function of the game's core. I think it's incredibly brilliant and well-thought out and beautiful. It inspires me.



You can think of it like a tabletop game. It's like a Dungeons and Dragons style game in terms of how beautiful the core concept is. I just prefer a different edition of the game, and so my changes (ultimately, because it's still incomplete) lead to an extremely different style of game.

Ok, I am still interestesd by an exposition of the choices.



In my opinion a thing which will clearly be bad it's the massive reduction of industry price of all buildings of era 3-4-5. The game is already very fast in quick speed. With that, rushing building with dust or industry, will dramatiquely increase the game speed of the game (in science and dust especially).



I think what you wanted it's a more logical cost for the effect of these buildings, right ?. These late buildings are sometimes very expansive for the effect they gave compared to era 2 buildings.



Off course you may reduce the industry production of the effect of empire plan. But you know it's the kind of size effect wich can lead to something unexpected.

It's balanced for the mod. Like I said, it's a very different experience from the base game. <3

I just want to drop in and say that I am currently working on a personal project with Luna now. It's something unrelated to Endless Legend, but it is very consuming and it's where I want to put my energy at the moment.



Unfortunately, it feels like I don't have a lot of time to play and/or code this mod anymore; this project is going to have to go on hiatus.



Edit: If someone wants to pick up this project and continue developing it (and you have a track record with other ods), I'd be happy to let someone else work on this.

I thought this thread was pretty silent... We understand perfectly that after so much time spent on modding Endless Legend, you guys feel like moving on to something else.

I'd been waiting for your final release, so if you're taking an undefined break, I guess now's the time I'll finally try playing your mod.



Will you still be around on the forums occasionally? Seeing how much you did with this mod in such a short time, I'm sure that when I get back to my own modding, you might be able to offer some valuable insight into where to find specific aspects.

Thanks, guys. Honestly, I love Endless Legend so much. It's inspired me (and someday I'll be crediting it as the game that got me into games).



I'll still be around some, but I'm putting in like 10 hour days on another project, so I won't be a regular.



If anyone needs any simple-ish modding advice, I'll help where I can. I've picked apart those files quite a bit.

Hi Lily, I have spent some days digging through the XML files trying to understand the different changes and how they effect the game and I have to say you did a lot of work. It also has given me a much better understanding of the game mechanics. Just wanted to thank you again and ask you one question that hopefully you know the answer. Gravity is not defined anywhere in the xml so I assume that is buried in the game. I also assume this is the increase distance that will arrgo/pull the minor to attack/follow you per era even across regions regardless if stay in region is true.

I have all DLC except the shifters. any explanation why?

Hello zukenft,

I think the mod lacks an update with the addition from shifters content (change in seasons mainly).

It will be required to tweak those files in order for the mod to work again :/

If I can ever convince Windows to actually show me the files of the workshop mods (or figure out where it is storing them, if it's not the User-generated content folder), I might try to fix this mod, as I never got a chance to try it before Shifters came out.

Well, on your computer the path should be something like this C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\workshop\content\289130\603292350

Of course the numbers can change depending the content you look for.

I hope it will help and I think lilyophelia won't see any problems in this (however you will have to send a PM to him/her if you want to see the mod updated on the workshop).

Well, that was the one EL-related location I didn't check.

If I find the time, and get permission, I'll see if I can update this mod to the current version.

It's been a long time, and I'm infinitely more adept at coding. I've created some games from the ground up. I could probably do some amazing things with this again. I think after I burn myself out with ES2, maybe I'll load up Endless Legend again and spend some time there.


No promises, but maybe I'll see what I can do in 6-8 months when I'm in a better position to continue this.
