[Read first] Reporting an issue

How to help us to fix a bug?



If you encounter an issue that is not in the list below, please create a new thread in this section and send us a Dropbox link (or equivalent) or zip and attach your files to your post (how to) with:

  • Issue - Describe your issue: it's simple and it helps us understanding what you want us to fix (error message etc.)
  • Specs - Share your specs with us! Your OS, screen resolution, etc.
  • Version - What is the game version? You can find this out in the game menu, at the bottom left of the screen
  • Game save - You can find it here:

    • [PC] [Documentsdir]/Endless Legend/Save Files/*.zip
    • [MAC] ~/library/application support/endless legend/savefiles


    IMPORTANT: in order to be able to identify the root cause of the issue, we need the game save of the turn where the issue appears, or better yet, the one just before that! This allows us to reproduce and identify the issue much more easily.

  • Output_log.txt

    • [PC] [Steaminstalldir]/Steamapps/Common/Endless Legend/EndlessLegend_Data/output_log.txt
    • [MAC] via the OSX Console - /Library/Logs/Unity/Player.log
  • Diagnostics.html - Make sure to include the diagnostic from the moment of the error, not two days later, it happens! smiley: stickouttongue

    • [PC] [Documentsdir]/Endless Legend/Temporary Files/Diagnostics*.html
    • [MAC] Diagnostics.*.html - Library/Application Support/EndlessLegend/Temporary Files/
    Do not forget to convert this document in .zip.
  • Registry.xml - [Documentsdir]/Endless Legend/Users/[SteamID]/Registry.xml
  • Screenshots - By default on Steam, you need to press F12 to take a screenshot. Once you exit the game, you will find the screenshot manager window, press on "Show on disk" and grab the pictures you find relevant
  • Typos - Here!
  • Multiplayer - Please zip your Dump files located in this folder: My Documents/Endless Legend/Dump Files/DesyncReport.xxx.aaaaaaaa-bbbb-cccc-dddd-eeeeeeeeeeee and attach them to your bug report if you are experiencing desync issues








smiley: warning We will also ask you to redeem your Steam CD keys: this way, we'll be sure you are playing an up to date version of the game on Steam (and sadly not a pirated version that is still buggy... :/).

  • Right click on the game in your Steam library
  • View CD keys
  • Copy to clipboard
  • Paste it in your user profile, on the amplitude website: www.amplitude-studios.com/user/edit
  • Click redeem and wait

Now that I think about it, wouldn't it be better to add a "save the debug info" button in the main menu, which will save all needed files for a report, along with the several autosaves, into one archive?

Please note that you can only generate MP dump files if you set your "Dumping method" to Text in the pre-game settings. Nobody knows to do this and it's turned off by default.

Hello,


I am trying to send you several bugs. I saved the save files but am I to understand we also need to send you the "output_log.txt", "Diagnostics.html" and "registry.xml" files? Asking this question I obviously do not have these files, will you still look at the issues or am I wasting my time?


I would also like to voice my agreement with Strigvir above. With all you are asking for a "save debug info" button would be very helpful. I have never had a software company ask me for so much information, I wasn't expecting this much work on my end to resolve an issue.


In your posting above there is a link "(how to)" which I assume is supposed to take you to an explanation of how to attach your files to your post, it takes you somewhere else instead.


I looked in my steam account library for the "CD Key" you ask for. I right clicked on EL, there were many options but I did not see one for listing your key.

Have you been unable to locate the files we're asking for, or where the respective folders where they are stored empty?


Currently the forums don't have a hosting solution (the previous vBulletin forums did, but this platform is at an early stage still), so you'd need to host them somewhere else such as dropbox and link us to it.


Instead of registering the cd key through the website, you can now directly link your Steam account to your forum account in your profile: https://www.games2gether.com/profile/me


(this only allows the forum to look at which of our games you own and which achievements you have reached)



As for your original question, sometimes we don't need said files to correct an issue, but it's a lot easier to ask for them upfront even if we're not sure they'll be needed, than to try and track a player down when they haven't been uploaded and are required. It all depends on the issue that is being reported. :)

hey i have a problem maybe you can just answer...

when me and my friend start a game,(him as host) i can see all the other civs...??? and he cant id like to know how to start a game with everything hidden except my own starting point, as his is???
this makes the game unplayable and stupid if there is no fix for this please help

My friend and I are having troubles trying to play multiplayer private game even reg multiplayer.... when either of us try to host a game the host can change settings but doesnt show up on friends screen also friends screen says he is in single player game but you can see him in the multiplayer game screen and when we go to start the game the countdown works then the host starts loading and the other person is stuck on the lobby screen with 1 sec remaining... and the game wont continue to load at all.  Not sure if this is a problem on our end but we reinstalled.... ran it a admin everything we could think of... even when we go to join a open multiplayer game it does the same thing wont load.  Any suggestions would help thanks

Windows OS, MSI Dominator, NVIDIA GTX 1070, Intel i7-6700HQ, attempted running the game on various quality setting and varying to the 32-bit version.  If you need more information please let me know.  The menu screen and game set up goes fine but when I get into the game and attempt to move a unit my computer restarts; dark screen, msi symbol, sign back in, the whole deal.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled Steam and Endless Legend multiple times onto both the C: drive and D: drive to no avail.  It runs fine on another computer with lower specs so I have to believe there is an issue with how/where it is saving however the game files on both computers appear the same.  I have tried verifying the integrity of the files and restarting but the system says there are no issues and when I go to play the same issue occurs.  I am trying to get help from Steam as well.  If you have any ideas I would be grateful to hear them.  Thank you in advance for your help.
