Units in Cities' Garrison selected by default (questionable Interaction Design)

Hi there,



With the UI being so easy easy to navigate in the the Endless series with the concept of left-click to go down a level and right-click to go up a level with regards to the context screens, I feel that units in city garrisons being automatically selected upon entering a city screen by default is a bad design decision. It feels intuitive and along the same lines of the UI in other screens that to exit a city screen I should be able to right click immediately upon entering the city screen, however, by default if any units are located in the city, an initial right-click instead moves the units out of the city garrison rather than going up a level back to the world map.



When units are in garrison, to go up a level you have to deselect them by left-clicking beforehand and then right-click. Many times I have unintentionally moved my garrisoned units out of the city by mistake when wanting to go back to the main world map. If the garrisoned units were deselected by default, I feel it would streamline the UI in this area.



I have also seen quite a few Lets Players run into this unintentional "UI mechanic" so it seems I am not the only one expecting a right-click to go up a level before checking to see whether I have any units selected in garrison.

I agree, I've had problems with this feature as well. Now I just always right-click on the city to exit, but it shouldn't be necessary to have to watch out for that.
