It happened in a multiplayer match with my friend. She was playing as Ardent Mages and got stuck at stage 6 or 7 of her faction quest which asked to destroy three roaming armies of delvers. One of the armies happened to spawn in my territory and I accidentally murdered them. We hoped that the game would generate a new roaming army for her, but alas. She was stuck at 2/3 and we could not find the third. Also she was really angry at me.



I'm really sorry I can't attach a screenshot or a savefile. The savefiles were overwritten with other autosaves. I hope I described the problem well enough.

This happened to my gf and I as well. Both of us were playing Ardent mages. As it happened when I reached this quest, 2 armies of delvers spawned around the intended city, while another unit wound up deep in my gf's territory. I asked her not to kill it (we were allies).



The next turn, she started her quest. 1 unit spawned around her city while 2 other armies spawned in enemy AI territory who had a huge army. Essentially those units were surrounded by the next turn before she was able to reach them. So she was unable to complete it.



However, when she was aiming to kill her unit she confused her unit with mine since the movement lag was so slow that it was difficult to tell whose unit was whose.



Ideally this quest should resolve regardless of who kills the unit. The same should go for any ruin quest that involves defeating a roaming army. Make the armies stronger if that helps, but quest failure due to other factions killing the unit whether due to poor placement or otherwise is rather disappointing and something out of our control.

In next patch even the armies destroyed by other empire will be taken into acount in order for the Ardent Mage player to go to the next step of his/her main quest.
