(( This is where the attacker's army is inferior to the defender's. 5 lesser tech stacks vs 1 higher tech stack inside the city for example ))

--- If the attacker has the Broken Lords faction, you cant even wear them down as they can just keep healing whatever army was attacked that round.

Even if the odds are 75% in your favor and you really overpower the enemy army, you cannot do anything about it and will be endlessly sieged down.

-------------

There has to be some way to fix it. My suggestion would be to remove the action cost for armies that attack from inside a city. So that if someone uses X small stacks to siege down your city, you can attack all of them to defend yourself.

Yeah. This is a huge problem that ruins the fun out of multiplayer games at the moment. Glad you bring it up, and really hope the developers are aware of this. It's indeed a critical issue.

I like this approach - You should be able to break the siege at no cost at any time.

That is exactly the problem, you can have double your oponent's military power, yet being unable to break the siege due to the one attack per turn limitation.

Or in the case of Broken Lords you will lose everthing against a single unit.

I don't see how you can change this without nerfing the Broken Lords (whom most say are underpowered) -or- messing up the siege mechanics by allowing a player to escape the city if the besieging army gets attacked by a single unit.

As for retreating, that's a shitty mechanic to begin with. Perhaps not letting a besieging army retreat?

But why didn't they (the other small stacks) joined the battle ? Weren't they on reinforcement ? And in 6 rounds, if you're vastly superior then you should focus fire to slowly kill the units one by one.

It won't be endless as the siege will kill the units inside when the defense points will vanish.

I would say it's just a case where the defender got caught in a perillous position, and should be punished for letting such a thing happen (Didn't he saw the 5 small stack coming his way ? Why didn't he preempted before the city was sieged ?)

You can't fight them. Retreat trumps auto/manual battle, the attacker just permanently retreats from all battles and lets the siege wear down the city.
