one of my cities has a negative food modifier labeled "settlers in queue". there is no settler in the queue.

- i once built a settler with that city

- adding a settler to the queue raises the negative modifier

- removing the settler in the same turn doesn't remove all the negative modifier

i assume this is a bug, but google turned up nothing. anyone else experience this?

also tried building a settler for a turn and then removing it.

also tried reload of all auto-saved games. the bug goes back to all of them.

last manual save (4+ hours ago) shows no bug.

haven't tried building a settler to completion. it's strategically a very bad idea, partly because double the negative food modifier means the city will starve, in addition to costing me in other ways.

I'm having this exact same problem. Playing Vaulters, I went back and found a save before the bug occurred, I couldn't figure out any way to get the phantom settlers out of my queue.

Strange bug.

I got a question : is that normal that building a setler in queue give malus like this ? I don't understand the justification of this malus.

Someone could confirm this malus please ?

You cannot produce food while you building settler. And after you build him you lose one population. Funny that in Broken Lords its better to build settler from small town rather than big one.

Post a save of your game in the Tech Support forum or a screenshot.

the malus adjusts automatically to hold your food balance at zero (neither positive nor negative). my bug was that i was getting it twice: one ghost settler and the one i was actually building.

it's to balance expansion with population growth, so you have to decide between the two rather than always pumping out cities as fast as you can. a very old mechanic from the early Civilization era smiley: smile

Actually, Settler production sets your surplus Food smiley: food production to zero. You can still have negative pop smiley: stickouttongueopulation: growth if you produce less Food smiley: food than your citizens eats.
